Klopf Architecture and Outer space Landscape Architects designed a new warm, modern, open, indoor-outdoor home in Los Altos, California. Inspired by mid-century modern homes but looking for something completely new and custom, the owners, a couple with two children, bought an older ranch style home with the intention of replacing it. Created on a grid, the house is designed to be at rest with differentiated spaces for activities; living, playing, cooking, dining and a piano space. The low-sloping gable roof over the great room brings a grand feeling to the space. The clerestory windows at the high sloping roof make the grand space light and airy. Upon entering the house, an open atrium entry in the middle of the house provides light and nature to the great room. The Heath tile wall at the back of the atrium blocks direct view of the rear yard from the entry door for privacy. The bedrooms, bathrooms, play room and the sitting room are under flat wing-like roofs that balance on either side of the low sloping gable roof of the main space. Large sliding glass panels and pocketing glass doors foster openness to the front and back yards. In the front there is a fenced-in play space connected to the play room, creating an indoor-outdoor play space that could change in use over the years. The play room can also be closed off from the great room with a large pocketing door. In the rear, everything opens up to a deck overlooking a pool where the family can come together outdoors. Wood siding travels from exterior to interior, accentuating the indoor-outdoor nature of the house. Where the exterior siding doesn’t come inside, a palette of white oak floors, white walls, walnut cabinetry, and dark window frames ties all the spaces together to create a uniform feeling and flow throughout the house. The custom cabinetry matches the minimal joinery of the rest of the house, a trim-less, minimal appearance. Wood siding was mitered in the corners, including where siding meets the interior drywall. Wall materials were held up off the floor with a minimal reveal. This tight detailing gives a sense of cleanliness to the house. The garage door of the house is completely flush and of the same material as the garage wall, de-emphasizing the garage door and making the street presentation of the house kinder to the neighborhood. The house is akin to a custom, modern-day Eichler home in many ways. Inspired by mid-century modern homes with today’s materials, approaches, standards, and technologies. The goals were to create an indoor-outdoor home that was energy-efficient, light and flexible for young children to grow. 既存玄関ホールの吹抜けに床を貼りペットコーナーにしたリフォーム。構造上抜けなかった柱は麻縄を巻き、猫の爪とぎにした。巻いているそばから興味津々で巻き終わると共に早速嬉しそうに爪を砥ぎ始めた。大成功である。 FRPグレーチング＋強化ガラスの床は、2階の光を玄関に取り込む効果に加え、猫たちがこの上に乗ってくれれば玄関から可愛い肉球を拝めるというサプライズ効果もある。

Après un 1er rendez-vous d'1h30 (qui correspond à la formule "RDV coaching déco" que vous pouvez réservez directement sur le site), au cours duquel la cliente m'a expliqué ses envies elle a reçu un compte-rendu illustré, reprenant la palette de couleurs choisies, et les solutions de décoration et d'aménagement. La cliente a souhaité compléter la formule conseils par des 3D afin de bien visualiser la future pièce, et ce sont les visuels que vous allez découvrir dans les prochains jours !

We wanted to frame the windows to take advantage of the view from the 37th floor of the high rise condo building. We wanted a crisp & clean look, with a contemporary color palette of soft greys, creams and metallics.

Mon Concept Habitation a su donner une identité contemporaine au lieu, notamment via les jeux de couleurs noire et blanche, sans toutefois en renier l’héritage. Au sol, le parquet en point de Hongrie a été intégralement restauré tandis que des espaces de rangement sur mesure, laqués noir, ponctuent l’espace avec élégance. Une réalisation qui ne manque pas d’audace !

Rénovation complète d'un studio, transformé en deux pièces en plein cœur de la principauté. La demande client était de transformer ce studio à l'aspect vieillot et surtout mal agencé (perte de place et pas de chambre), en un joli deux pièces moderne. Après un dépôt de permis auprès d'un architecte, la cuisine a été déplacée dans le futur séjour, et l'ancien espace cuisine a été transformé en chambre munie d'un dressing sur mesure. Des cloisons ont été abattues et l'espace a été réagencé afin de gagner de la place. La salle de bain a été entièrement rénovée avec des matériaux et équipements modernes. Elle est pourvue d'un ciel de douche, et les clients ne voulant pas de faïence ou carrelage ordinaire, nous avons opté pour du béton ciré gris foncé, et des parements muraux d'ardoise noire. Contrairement aux idées reçues, les coloris foncés de la salle de bain la rende plus lumineuse. Du mobilier sur mesure a été créé (bois et corian) pour gagner en rangements. Un joli bec mural vient moderniser et alléger l'ensemble. Un WC indépendant a été créé, lui aussi en béton ciré gris foncé pour faire écho à la salle de bain, pourvu d'un WC suspendu et gébérit. La cuisine a été créée et agencée par un cuisiniste, et comprends de l'électroménager et robinetterie HI-Tech. Les éléments de décoration au goût du jour sont venus parfaire ce nouvel espace, notamment avec le gorille doré d'un mètre cinquante, qui fait toujours sensation auprès des nouveaux venus. Les clients sont ravis et profitent pleinement de leur nouvel espace.
