Building a 7,000-square-foot dream home is no small feat. This young family hired us to design all of the cabinetry and custom built-ins throughout the home, to provide a fun new color scheme, and to design a kitchen that was totally functional for their family and guests.

Urban Oasis

From little things, big things grow. This project originated with a request for a custom sofa. It evolved into decorating and furnishing the entire lower floor of an urban apartment. The distinctive building featured industrial origins and exposed metal framed ceilings. Part of our brief was to address the unfinished look of the ceiling, while retaining the soaring height. The solution was to box out the trimmers between each beam, strengthening the visual impact of the ceiling without detracting from the industrial look or ceiling height. We also enclosed the void space under the stairs to create valuable storage and completed a full repaint to round out the building works. A textured stone paint in a contrasting colour was applied to the external brick walls to soften the industrial vibe. Floor rugs and window treatments added layers of texture and visual warmth. Custom designed bookshelves were created to fill the double height wall in the lounge room. With the success of the living areas, a kitchen renovation closely followed, with a brief to modernise and consider functionality. Keeping the same footprint, we extended the breakfast bar slightly and exchanged cupboards for drawers to increase storage capacity and ease of access. During the kitchen refurbishment, the scope was again extended to include a redesign of the bathrooms, laundry and powder room.

洗濯室のメリットは、生活用品を一か所にまとめて、それを扉で隠せること。洗濯前の汚れた衣類や各種洗剤や掃除用品など、なるべく人目に付かせたくないものを収納するのにぴったりです。洗濯機上には収納棚を付けて、洗濯洗剤や柔軟剤、洗濯ネットなどを置くスペースとして有効活用しましょう。このとき活躍するのはバスケット。洗濯用品、掃除道具など、種類ごとにかごに分けて収納すれば、見た目もきれいで使いやすさも抜群です。あと、おすすめなのはハンガーラック。洗濯物を干すときに一時的にかけたり、取り入れた洗濯物の一時保管場所としてなにかと便利です。アイロンをかける前のしわしわのシャツも、ここに吊るしておけば恥ずかしくありません。

洗濯室として重要なのは機能的・効率的であることですが、そればかりだとつまらないですよね。洗濯やアイロンがけなど、どちらかというと面倒な作業だからこそ、楽しく家事ができるように思い切って自分の好みのスタイルやテイストにしてみませんか？他の部屋では躊躇してしまうような派手な内装も、ランドリールームという限られた空間だからこそ挑戦しやすいと言えます。同じ家事をするにも、どうせならお気に入りのスペースで気分よく片づけたいものですよね。
