The Square Frame design of this Handmade in Hitchin kitchen brings the Shaker right up to date. The chunky Stainless Steel handles (note the different shapes!) and contemporary paint colours provide a fresh twist on a traditional classic. The Minerva Ice Crystal worktop complements the cabinetry painted in Farrow & Ball's Pavilion Grey and provides a dramatic contrast to the pantry unit hand painted in Anthracite Grey. The bespoke pantry unit was specially commissioned as a stand-alone piece that would house the breakfast essentials as well look handsome and individual. Featuring all the highly skilled details that are the trademark of this particular range which will ensure this piece stands the test of time. And, of course, the paint choice is stunning with the white-washed floor!

Our clients are seasoned home renovators. Their Malibu oceanside property was the second project JRP had undertaken for them. After years of renting and the age of the home, it was becoming prevalent the waterfront beach house, needed a facelift. Our clients expressed their desire for a clean and contemporary aesthetic with the need for more functionality. After a thorough design process, a new spatial plan was essential to meet the couple’s request. This included developing a larger master suite, a grander kitchen with seating at an island, natural light, and a warm, comfortable feel to blend with the coastal setting. Demolition revealed an unfortunate surprise on the second level of the home: Settlement and subpar construction had allowed the hillside to slide and cover structural framing members causing dangerous living conditions. Our design team was now faced with the challenge of creating a fix for the sagging hillside. After thorough evaluation of site conditions and careful planning, a new 10’ high retaining wall was contrived to be strategically placed into the hillside to prevent any future movements. With the wall design and build completed — additional square footage allowed for a new laundry room, a walk-in closet at the master suite. Once small and tucked away, the kitchen now boasts a golden warmth of natural maple cabinetry complimented by a striking center island complete with white quartz countertops and stunning waterfall edge details. The open floor plan encourages entertaining with an organic flow between the kitchen, dining, and living rooms. New skylights flood the space with natural light, creating a tranquil seaside ambiance. New custom maple flooring and ceiling paneling finish out the first floor. Downstairs, the ocean facing Master Suite is luminous with breathtaking views and an enviable bathroom oasis. The master bath is modern and serene, woodgrain tile flooring and stunning onyx mosaic tile channel the golden sandy Malibu beaches. The minimalist bathroom includes a generous walk-in closet, his & her sinks, a spacious steam shower, and a luxurious soaking tub. Defined by an airy and spacious floor plan, clean lines, natural light, and endless ocean views, this home is the perfect rendition of a contemporary coastal sanctuary. This kitchen renovation has a mixture of dark finishes softened with lighter tones found in the natural wood flooring, granite countertops, and tiled backsplash. We brought in the darker finished cabinetry pieces to update the look and feel as well as bring the clients personality and needs into the newly renovated space. This kitchen renovation is a great example of what you can do to upgrade the look and feel of a space without committing to a total remodel. I'm a firm believer that if a room has good bones about it then we can work around that and enhance it. Often this is a more realistic approach to designing around a clients budget. WE LOVE SOME GREAT PANTRY STORAGE Having adequate storage in the kitchen is key - this pantry allows for storage of large volume of dry goods. Kitchen organization is key in all of our designs.

With the goal of creating larger, brighter, and more open spaces within the footprint of an existing house, BiglarKinyan reimagined the flow and proportions of existing rooms with in this house. In this kitchen space, return walls of an original U shaped kitchen were eliminated to create a long and efficient linear kitchen with island. Rear windows facing a ravine were enlarged to invite more light and views indoors. Space was borrowed from an adjacent dining and living room, which was combined and reproportioned to create a kitchen pantry and bar, larger dining room and a piano lounge.
