This project was a complete kitchen remodel. We replaced cabinetry, lighting, countertops, backsplash, and flooring, and refinished the walls and painting. We also redesigned and relocated the cabinetry and workstation in a different format. The island is a honed marble which provides no sheen on the surface.

When you fall in love with a property in a prime location in Singapore, sometimes you wish that it could have more space, too. This goes out especially to owners who love to host parties at home--surely, this lack of space may seem to be a downer. Well, nOtch made it a point to not let the owners’ big hearts down, and have their hospitability shine through their home by creating more usable space. Using the techniques of modern contemporary styling, we redirect the focus of visitors onto the surrounding walls, while keeping the furniture sleek and clean. Relaxed La Jolla Kitchen This homeowner is a single dad with an elementary school-aged daughter. He recently purchased his one story home in the La Jolla hills and wanted a kitchen that was casual, a bit masculine, and reflected his contemporary taste and lifestyle. His main hope was that the remodel would give him and his daughter a chance to spend more time together by making home-cooked meals and relaxing at home. The result was this rustic, yet contemporary kitchen with lots of counter space, high-end appliances and fixtures and plenty of storage solutions. “The new kitchen is great to work in. My daughter and I are now cooking more than ever and really love the space. It feels so much bigger than our old kitchen.” says the homeowner. “It’s perfect for entertaining, and we’re hosting dinner parties more than ever before.” The new design eliminated a small island that blocked the flow of the space and incorporated a larger peninsula that acts as a serving station for entertaining, and a breakfast bar for every day use. The perimeter of the new kitchen features quartz counter tops and shaker style cabinetry. The backsplash is a glass and stone mosaic that extends around the wolf hood and upper cabinetry. The result is a kitchen that fits the homeowner’s lifestyle and burgeoning cooking desires.

CCI Renovations/North Vancouver/Photos - John Friswell. This old galley style kitchen lacked proper organized storage – which promoted clutter and was closed to the dining area. The same general footprint was maintained but adding full height cabinets and relocating the fridge gave more counter and storage space. A clever use of lighter uppers combined with rift cut oak lowers adds light and warmth at the same time. A single French door provided space to move the fridge and set up a pantry wall. Wood look porcelain tile adds to the continuity of the look. The nook area was restricted by large baseboard heaters, a wide window sill and double doors - switching to floor heat, adding a counter area and reducing the door created a usable clean space. The slide in range blends in with the subtle glass tile detail and the mix of cabinet and wall colours. Removal of the wall to the dining room opens up the sink wall. This galley with a twist opens nicely in to the dining area and provides everything in a very organized layout. Well placed lighting ensures both a great ambiance and efficient work areas.
