In late 2017, our clients came to us wanting to update the kitchen in their mid-century modern home. The kitchen was not a large kitchen and all the available space needed to be utilized for storage, while achieving the aesthetic our clients wanted. Walnut cabinetry with flat panels were selected to keep the look clean, modern, but true to the time period of the house. I designed a large pantry area in the dining nook for extra storage and included a built-in microwave to ensure no countertop space was being used for this large appliance. Our clients wanted some open shelving to display items to the right of the sink. Stainless steel appliances and undermount sink were chosen to complete the clean modern look. Quartz countertops and tile backsplash with red tiles from Iran were incorporated to complete the space and make it truly unique. The new owners of Corvallis Custom Kitchens and Baths completed this project I designed in 2018. Fantastic attention to detail and craftsmanship!

So if your not already aware then guess what grey is huge now and this layout in Galaxy Horizon door style is a perfect fit for this customer. They were looking for light grey tones but didnt want a paint and have to sacrafice the character element of wood graining and this door did just that. Loaded with easy to use customer convenient items like trash can rollout, dovetail rollout drawers, pot and pan drawers, tiered cutlery divider, and more. We added in some element items like posts and X shaped wine cubes to make it not to comtemporary but have a splash of Art-Deco feel. Then finished off with the rich Quartz with Cara Marble look and square edge detail to match to door styles. We then applied large subway glass dove grey tile on harinbone pattern for wall splashes. Customer already had oak woodgrain floors.

This kitchen is full of fun elements that reflect the clients personality. Taking their favorite color into consideration, purple was used as an accent and incorporated into the display cube making it a focal point in the kitchen. This accent color highlights the small flecks of amethyst within the countertop material that is continued through the waterfall peninsula and surrounds the fireplace in the adjacent room. Because of the long run of large windows in this kitchen, we had the opportunity to design with primarily base cabinets making the space feel very open and airy and maximized the amount of natural light coming in. In order to break up the long run of cabinetry, we intentionally designed a darker finish around the Galley Workstation. Having a great view of the beautiful backyard is an added bonus!

More context showing the organic edge of the ceramic backsplash ending and elegantly transitioning to the wall where we have no straight edge. This project was inspired by a fusion of: contemporary elements, farmhouse warmth, geometric design & overall convenience. The style is eclectic as a result. Our clients wanted something unique to them and a reflection of their style to greet them each day. With details that are custom like the hood and the ceramic tile backsplash, there are standard elements worked into the space to truly show off this couple's personal style. This project was a complete update of kitchen with new walk in pantry, butler's pantry, full length island, 48" gas range, custom built design cabinet doors and full height china cabinet. Old heart pine flooring installed for flooring to tie kitchen together with the rest of the house. Countertops installed were forza quartz, quartzite, and butcher block material.
