Project SilverOaks' earthy kitchen brings colour into the kitchen to break up the space with its navy-blue panelled island. What could have been standard kitchen island corners was taken to the next level by bringing in curves and open shelving! The rounded kitchen island corners and countertop brings softness to the kitchen space and maximizes functionality. The kitchen island’s ‘corner’ open shelving allows for a personal touch by being able to display décor, cookbooks, or even a family picture!

These homeowners were ready to update the home they had built when their girls were young. This was not a full gut remodel. The perimeter cabinetry mostly stayed but got new doors and height added at the top. The island and tall wood stained cabinet to the left of the sink are new and custom built and I hand-drew the design of the new range hood. The beautiful reeded detail came from our idea to add this special element to the new island and cabinetry. Bringing it over to the hood just tied everything together. We were so in love with this stunning Quartzite we chose for the countertops we wanted to feature it further in a custom apron-front sink. We were in love with the look of Zellige tile and it seemed like the perfect space to use it in.

Located out of sight in a big oak millwork "box" directly behind the kitchen, the spacious pantry is loaded with storage options behind its vertical grain rift oak cabinetry. The Slide Mink backsplash tile from Facings of America is a bold contrast to the polished quartz countertop from Galleria of Stone. We updated this kitchen by adding large 48x48 concrete look porcelain tile, and a mix of three cabinet finishes. The island has a waterfall edge and is mitered to be 3" thick. A soffit above the island echoes the high gloss wood trim around the cabinetry.

A city condo needed an uplift, all finishes started to feel outdated, the kitchen's layout did not work for a dynamic couple who love to entertain and play Bridge with their friends on the regular basis. We developed a plan how to provide a luxurious experience and necessary changes in the limited space. The condo has some physical limitations as well, such as the load bearing walls could not be changed, the duct work had to stay in place, and the floor finishes had to satisfy strict sound restrictions.

"This beautiful design started with a clean open slate and lots of design opportunities. The homeowner was looking for a large oversized spacious kitchen designed for easy meal prep for multiple cooks and room for entertaining a large oversized family. The architect’s plans had a single island with large windows on both main walls. The one window overlooked the unattractive side of a neighbor’s house while the other was not large enough to see the beautiful large back yard. The kitchen entry location made the mudroom extremely small and left only a few design options for the kitchen layout. The almost 14’ high ceilings also gave lots of opportunities for a unique design, but care had to be taken to still make the space feel warm and cozy. After drawing four design options, one was chosen that relocated the entry from the mudroom, making the mudroom a lot more accessible. A prep island across from the range and an entertaining island were included. The entertaining island included a beverage refrigerator for guests to congregate around and to help them stay out of the kitchen work areas. The small island appeared to be floating on legs and incorporates a sink and single dishwasher drawer for easy clean up of pots and pans. There is abundant storage in this kitchen. It offers a wall of decorative cabinetry and two islands. The wall of cabinets include a door into a large walk-in pantry located behind the cabinetry’s façade, which is a fun surprise for visitors. Antique, mirrored glass-door cabinets flank the kitchen hood and a pop-up television raises from front island’s quartzite countertop when the cook or guests want to engage.
