This beautiful barn conversion now has a kitchen, dining, seating area which will be the heart of the client’s home, as well as a wonderful entertaining space.The tall units contain a larder unit, lined with oak veneer, housing oak drawers for bread and snacks. The central island houses a wine fridge, microwave, prep sink and drawer space. Friends and family congregate on the opposite side of the island, around the demi-lune oak insert. When this French customer was planning her new kitchen she was keen to introduce some Gallic touches to add flair and personality. The room had been extended resulting in odd pillars and different ceiling heights so a new chimney mantle was added to smooth out the lines and create a focal point. The main kitchen was painted in Farrow and Ball Blackened to make the most of the light in the room whilst the large island was painted in a contrasting Little Greene Paint Company Dark Lead to add depth and drama to the scheme, tying in beautifully with the French galvanised and wire accessories.photos by felix page

Grey painted kitchen pantry pull-out designed by North Shore kitchen designer Nancy Hanson owner/designer Heartwood Kitchens of Danvers MA - a best of Houzz winner 2013 & 2014.

A bespoke, handmade Shaker style kitchen with ‘in-frame’ mortice and tennon jointed doors hung with traditional burnished brass butt hinges. This luxurious kitchen features Oak dovetailed and polished drawer boxes on soft-close concealed runners and rigid Birch plywood carcasses. All units have been factory painted in Basalt Blue from Little Greene Paint & Paper, to complement the worktops in Silestone Quartz Blanco Zeus extreme. All cup handles and knobs are in burnished brass. The range cooker is by Mercury, whilst all other appliances are from Bosch. The brassware is from Perrin & Rowe. Harvey Ball Photography Ltd

This creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. This kitchen had the old laundry room in the corner and there was no pantry. We converted the old laundry into a pantry/laundry combination. The hand carved travertine farm sink is the focal point of this beautiful new kitchen. Notice the clean backsplash with no electrical outlets. All of the electrical outlets, switches and lights are under the cabinets leaving the uninterrupted backslash. The rope lighting on top of the cabinets adds a nice ambiance or night light. Bespoke solid ash cabinetry with oak internals, dovetail drawers and subtle decorative beaded door detail – handpainted in Light Grey with Lava on the island. The cabinetry has been designed to look as though it’s part of the room’s architecture with the ceiling coving around the top of the cabinets to make it look as though the kitchen has always been there.
