This kitchen was once half the size it is now and had dark panels throughout. By taking the space from the adjacent Utility Room and expanding towards the back yard, we were able to increase the size allowing for more storage, flow, and enjoyment. We also added on a new Utility Room behind that pocket door you see.

This early 20th-century house needed careful updating so it would work for a contemporary family without feeling as though the historical integrity had been lost. We stepped in to create a more functional combined kitchen and mud room area. A window bench was added off the kitchen, providing a new sitting area where none existed before. New wood detail was created to match the wood already in the house, so it appears original. Custom upholstery was added for comfort. In the master bathroom, we reconfigured the adjacent spaces to create a comfortable vanity, shower and walk-in closet. The choices of materials were guided by the existing structure, which was very nicely finished.

What were you looking for in your remodel? We were looking to completely redo the space. We knew we needed a new layout to accommodate the need for more storage, but also to update the extremely outdated cabinets, flooring, etc. to bring it out of 1960 and into 2020. 2. What do you love most about your remodel? I obviously love that everything is brand new. My favorite physical feature is definitely the new backsplash and countertops that we chose! I also have never had soft close drawers so those are spectacular! 3. What was your main concern when deciding on a remodeling company? We really just didn’t want it to take a long time! We were at home during the whole thing because of the pandemic, so it was not realistic to live without a kitchen for months. 4. What made you choose O’Hanlon Kitchens? Would you recommend O’Hanlon Kitchens? Tracy was a great designer, and we ultimately went with O’Hanlon because she discovered some details about the kitchen and it’s functional space that others overlooked and even we didn’t notice. Kitchen has white shaker upper cabinets and base cabinets, pantry, and island have a unique gray/blue with gold bar pull hardware, mosaic, geometric backsplash, with with quartz counters. Island has leather counter stools with clear glass geometric pendants with a gold finish.

Designed for entertaining and family gatherings, the open floor plan connects the different levels of the home to outdoor living spaces. A private patio to the side of the home is connected to both levels by a mid-level entrance on the stairway. This access to the private outdoor living area provides a step outside of the traditional condominium lifestyle into a new desirable, high-end stand-alone condominium.

What began as a small, extremely dated kitchen in this 1929 Spanish Casa with an even tinier nook that you could hardly eat in has turned into a gorgeous stunner full of life! We stayed true to the original style of the home and selected materials to complement and update its Spanish aesthetic. Luckily for us, our clients were on board with some color-loving ideas too! The peacock blue cabinets pair beautifully with the patterned tile and let those gorgeous accents shine! We kept the original copper hood and designed a functional kitchen with mixed metals, wire mesh cabinet detail, more counter space and room to entertain!
