Once an unused butler's pantry, this Ann Arbor kitchen remodel now offers added storage for important appliances and large items infrequently used. This hard working set of cabinetry does the work of a pantry without the doors, narrow storage and poor lighting of a traditional pantry. Complete with floor to ceiling natural cherry cabinets in the craftsman style, these cabinets add interest and function with stair-step depths and height. The Medallion cabinets are a natural cherry wood with a Sonoma door style, finished in a pecan burnished glaze. Sanctuary cabinet hardware from Top Knobs comes in a Tuscan Bronze finish. Bamboo floors compliment the warm cabinetry and will deepen to a honey blond over time. The kitchen pantry continues the white and black style of the main kitchen. A cork board is conveniently located on the wall for sticking shopping lists and calendars on while the pantry sink allows for kitchen prep or flower arranging without making a mess in the main kitchen. The pantry also houses an under-counter wine fridge and extra pantry and dish storage. Special design details to note are the wood counter top and marble back-splash another fun design detail are the cabinet sconces located on the cabinet crown.

This Spanish influenced Modern Farmhouse style Kitchen incorporates a variety of textures and finishes to create a calming and functional space to entertain a houseful of guests. The extra large island is in an historic Sherwin Williams green with banquette seating at the end. It provides ample storage and countertop space to prep food and hang around with family. The surrounding wall cabinets are a shade of white that gives contrast to the walls while maintaining a bright and airy feel to the space. Matte black hardware is used on all of the cabinetry to give a cohesive feel. The countertop is a Cambria quartz with grey veining that adds visual interest and warmth to the kitchen that plays well with the white washed brick backsplash. The brick backsplash gives an authentic feel to the room and is the perfect compliment to the deco tile behind the range. The pendant lighting over the island and wall sconce over the kitchen sink add a personal touch and finish while the use of glass globes keeps them from interfering with the open feel of the space and allows the chandelier over the dining table to be the focal lighting fixture.

This Florida Gulf home is a project by DIY Network where they asked viewers to design a home and then they built it! Talk about giving a consumer what they want! We were fortunate enough to have been picked to tile the kitchen--and our tile is everywhere! Using tile from countertop to ceiling is a great way to make a dramatic statement. But it's not the only dramatic statement--our monochromatic Moroccan Fish Scale tile provides a perfect, neutral backdrop to the bright pops of color throughout the kitchen. That gorgeous kitchen island is recycled copper from ships! Overall, this is one kitchen we wouldn't mind having for ourselves. This small townhouse kitchen has no windows (it has a sliding glass door across from the dining nook) and had a limited budget. The owners planned to live in the home for 3-5 more years. The challenge was to update and brighten the space using Ikea cabinets while creating a custom feel with good resale value.

All custom made cabinetry that was color matched to the entire suite of GE Cafe matte white appliances paired with champagne bronze hardware that coordinates beautifully with the Delta faucet and cabinet / drawer hardware. The counter surfaces are Artic White quartz with custom hand painted clay tiles for the entire range wall with custom floating shelves and backsplash. We used my favorite farrow & ball Babouche 223 (yellow) paint for the island and Sherwin Williams 7036 Accessible Beige on the walls. Hanging over the island is a pair of glazed clay pots that I customized into light pendants. We also replaced the builder grade hollow core back door with a custom designed iron and glass security door. The barstools were a fabulous find on Craigslist that we became mixologists with a selection of transparent stains to come up with the perfect shade of teal and we installed brand new bamboo flooring! This was such a fun project to do, even amidst Covid with all that the pandemic delayed, and a much needed burst of cheer as a daily result.
