Historic renovation- Joined parlor and kitchen to create one giant kitchen with access to new Solarium on the back of the house. Panel ready, built in appliances including Thermdor Fridge, Miele coffee center wtih pull out table, xo panel ready bar french door bar fridge and panel ready dishwasher. Custom oak hood made from old wood in the house to match aged trim. This is a cook's kitchen with everything a chef would want. The key was angling the sink to allow for all the wishes of the Client.

While we kept the basic layout, nearly every other element in this kitchen was updated and transformed. We worked with our premier specialists, Crystal Cabinets, to create custom cabinetry that optimized the space without increasing the overall footprint. We incorporated the client's traditional style in a way that brought the space into the current century without feel too modern and upgraded the appliances to the best of the best. The split-level countertops were evened out to make the kitchen more open and inviting. We moved the built-in desk to a more functional spot, which allowed us to add more cook and prep space by the stove.

The in-law suite kitchen could only be in a small corner of the basement. The kitchen design started with the question: how small can this kitchen be? The compact layout was designed to provide generous counter space, comfortable walking clearances, and abundant storage. The bold colors and fun patterns anchored by the warmth of the dark wood flooring create a happy and invigorating space. SQUARE FEET: 140

Late 1800s Victorian Bungalow i Central Denver was updated creating an entirely different experience to a young couple who loved to cook and entertain. By opening up two load bearing wall, replacing and refinishing new wood floors with radiant heating, exposing brick and ultimately painting the brick.. the space transformed in a huge open yet warm entertaining haven. Bold color was at the heart of this palette and the homeowners personal essence.

This growing family was looking for a larger, more functional space to prep their food, cook and entertain in their 1910 NE Minneapolis home. A new floorplan was created by analyzing the way the homeowners use their home. Their large urban garden provides them with an abundance of fresh produce which can now be harvested, brought in through the back door, and then cleaned in the new Kohler prep sink closest to the back door. An old, unusable staircase to the basement was removed to capture more square footage for a larger kitchen space and a better planned back entry area. A mudroom with bench/shoe closet was configured at the back door and the Stonepeak Quartzite tile keeps dirt from boots out of the cooking area. Next in line of function was storage. The refrigerator and pantry areas were moved so they are now across from the prep and cooking areas. New cherry cabinetry in the Waverly door style and floating shelves were provided by Crystal Cabinets. Finally, the kitchen was opened up to the dining room, creating an eat-in area and designated entertainment area. A new Richlin vinyl double-hung pocket window replaced the old window on the southwest wall of the mudroom. The overall style is in line with the style and age of the home. The wood and stain colors were chosen to highlight the rest of the original woodwork in the house. A slight rustic feel was added through a highlight glaze on the cabinets. A natural color palette with muted tones – brown, green and soft white- create a modern fresh feel while paying homage to the character of the home and the homeowners’ earthy style.

Our homeowners needed an update to their existing kitchen. We removed a prep sink from a large peninsula and redesigned that area to include an eat at table top. New quartz countertops (Raphael) give this kitchen a brighter more modern feel. All cabinetry was refinished during this update. Removing a cabinet that housed a bulky microwave, allowed for floating shelves and gives a more modern style to the kitchen overall.

This recent remodel was a full gut down to the stubs and sub floors. The biggest challenge in the space was creating a single room from 2 separate areas. The original galley kitchen and a 1980’s add-on breakfast room. The breakfast room was cold and had old mechanicals emphasizing the need for a continuous space. The existing kitchen area was small, cramped and did not fit the lifestyle of the homeowners. The homeowners wanted a hidden pantry for large and seasonal items as well as for food storage. I planned for a portion of the garage to be transformed to a full size, walk-in, hidden pantry that catered to the needs of the family. Three of the most important design features include the hidden pantry, “other room” storage such as the mudroom seat and window bench, as well as the eat-in counter. Other notable design elements include glass cabinets, under-cabinet lighting, a message center and built-in under the counter appliances. Oak hardwoods were laced into the existing floors, butcher block countertops contrast against the painted shaker cabinets, matte brass fixtures add sophistication, while the custom subway tile range hood and feature wall with floating shelves pop against the dark wall. The best feature? A dishwasher. After all these years as a couple, this is the first time the two have a dishwasher.
