A transitional kitchen where the marriage of white oak and warm white cabinetry, adorned with elegant bronze accents, sets the stage. The grand island, featuring a soapstone waterfall end on one side and an inviting open side on the other, takes center stage. Completing the ensemble are the striking black metal hutch doors, chic open shelving, and the warm glow of pendant lighting.

In this bright and welcoming white kitchen, style and functionality were the key. The clean cabinetry ties the kitchen perfectly into the rest of the homes aesthetic. Project by Studio H:T principal in charge Brad Tomecek (now with Tomecek Studio Architecture). This project tests the theory of bringing high quality design to a prefabricated factory setting. Enrolled in the LEED-Home Pilot, this residence completed certification. The modular home was conceived as two boxes that slide above one another to create outdoor living space and a lower covered rear entry. The passive solar design invites large amounts of light from the south while minimizing openings to the east and west. Factory construction saves both time and costs while reducing waste and using a controlled labor force. Built in a factory north of Denver, the home arrived by flatbed truck in two pieces and was craned into place in about 4 hours providing a fast, sustainable, cost effective alternative to traditional homebuilding techniques. Upgraded lighting fixtures, plumbing fixtures, doors, door hardware, windows, tile and bamboo flooring were incorporated into the design. 80% of the residence was completed in the factory in less than 3 weeks and other items were finished on site including the exterior stucco, garage, metal railing and stair. Stack-Slide-Stitch describes the conceptual process of how to tie together two distinct modular boxes. Stack refers to setting one modular directly on top of the other. Slide refers to the action that creates an upper southern deck area while simultaneously providing a covered rear entry area. The stitching or interlocking occurs with the upward extension of the lower volume with the front deck walls and with the rear two story vertical.

Our clients needed a much larger kitchen to accommodate their growing family and better functionality for their dream culinary haven. They did not give it a moments notice to contact Cathy and Ed at Renovisions who designed and built a few recent projects and they were delighted with the overall experience. A design of an open floor plan in mind with relocated appliances totally transformed this kitchen space. Space was borrowed from the dining room allowing a much needed work flow and eat-in area for their two small children. White painted cabinetry that boasts plenty of storage, deep drawers, pull-out trash drawer provided more functional space and the glass mullion doors created an attractive view. The stainless appliances, including a slim Meile hood, along with the stainless steel decorative diamond pattern backsplash reflected a sleek and contemporary style that the clients love for their transitional style home. Soapstone with white veining countertops compliments the dark wood island with white marble Carrera-look quartz no-maintenance countertops. The warmth of the hardwood flooring is stunning in contrast to the white painted kitchen cabinets and exudes a comfortable and most welcome feel when you enter the space. These homeowners now enjoy more natural light from their existing dining room windows and beautiful views of their gardens from their table. This newly remodeled top notch kitchen is a delight for this homeowner’s top notch culinary skills.

A vibrant glass splashback in Daffodil provides a colourful accent piece to complement the muted palette of soft dove and graphite greys in Second Nature Porter matt painted doors. A bank of graphite grey units house the stylish black and brushed steel ovens and a peninsular with curved units and open display shelving soften the clean lines and ensure that the kitchen merges perfectly into the dining space.
