Light silvery gray and bright white tones create a contemporary and sophisticated space; combined with elegant rich, dark woods throughout. Removing the center wall and brick fireplace between the kitchen and dining areas allowed for a large seven by four foot island and abundance of light coming through the floor to ceiling windows and addition of skylights. The custom low sheen white and navy blue kitchen cabinets were designed by Segale Bros, with the goal of adding as much organization and access as possible with the island storage, drawers, and roll-outs. Black finishings are used throughout with custom black aluminum windows and 3 panel sliding door by CBW Windows and Doors. The clients designed their custom vertical white oak front door with CBW Windows and Doors as well.

The remodelling of a ground floor garden flat in northwest London offers the opportunity to revisit the principles of compact living applied in previous designs. The 54 sqm flat in Willesden Green is dramatically transformed by re-orientating the floor plan towards the open space at the back of the plot. Home office and bedroom are relocated to the front of the property, living accommodations at the back. The rooms within the outrigger have been opened up and the former extension rebuilt with a higher flat roof, punctured by an elongated light well. The corner glazing directs one’s view towards the sleek limestone garden. A storage wall with an homogeneous design not only serves multiple functions - from wardrobe to linen cupboard, utility and kitchen -, it also acts as the agent connecting the front and the back of the apartment. This device also serves to accentuate the stretched floor plan and to give a strong sense of direction to the project. The combination of bold colours and strong materials result in an interior space with modernist influences yet sombre and elegant and where the statuario marble fireplace becomes an opulent centrepiece with a minimal design.

This young St Louis couple wanted to make their kitchen more inviting and less formal. We added a bold, punch of color with the Osborne & Little linen fabric on the windows and door. The table and banquette were custom made for the space. The table was manufactured locally with reclaimed barn wood. The banquette was upholstered in a neutral metallic, faux skin vinyl for easy clean-up. Pillows were made with coordinating fabrics for more color and the French bistro chairs are from Serena & Lilly. (The light fixture was existing from the previous owners.) Alise O'Brian Photography

This Family functional Kitchen has lots of counter and storage space, and is overlooking the light filled dining area. This open concept kitchen is a Contemporary take of a Family Kitchen in which this room is essentially the heart of the home. I designed custom blackened steel beam covers to fit around existing plaster beams. This allowed me to incorporate lighting in a location that had no power supply. I had the steel fabricated to follow and fit the existing amazing scalloped ceiling. White lacquer cabinets and a thick, solid, stone slab kitchen island keeps the feeling fresh and provides dramatic contrast to the dark floor and steel. Photos by: Seth Caplan

The Modern-Style Kitchen Includes Italian custom-made cabinetry, electrically operated, new custom-made pantries, granite backsplash, wood flooring and granite countertops. The kitchen island combined exotic quartzite and accent wood countertops. Appliances included: built-in refrigerator with custom hand painted glass panel, wolf appliances, and amazing Italian Terzani chandelier.
