On the interior, the Great Room comprised of the Living Room, Kitchen and Dining Room features the space defining massive 18-foot long, triangular-shaped clerestory window pressed to the underside of the ranch’s main gable roofline. This window beautifully lights the Kitchen island below while framing a cluster of diverse mature trees lining a horse riding trail to the North 15 feet off the floor. The cabinetry of the Kitchen and Living Room are custom high-gloss white lacquer finished with Rosewood cabinet accents strategically placed including the 19-foot long island with seating, preparation sink, dishwasher and storage. The Kitchen island and aligned-on-axis Dining Room table are celebrated by unique pendants offering contemporary embellishment to the minimal space.

Ultramodern German Kitchen in Worthing, West Sussex This German kitchen project in Worthing required extensive structural works to divide two rooms and create an open-plan space. Designer Phil has created an ultramodern handleless kitchen space, complete with high-tech appliances and TV area. The Brief A spacious and vast open-plan kitchen was the end goal of this project, which was not an easy task considering the space was originally two rooms. Advanced structural works were required to support the rest of the property, with flooring, lighting and an exterior bi-fold door also part of the plans. Designer Phil was tasked with envisaging a design which incorporated all this client’s requirements, whilst implementing a homely and modern kitchen theme. Design Elements Before fitting the kitchen, our structural team had to undertake significant works. Following the removal of a dividing wall, four steels had to be fixed in a square formation to support the property, this left a huge space for the kitchen Phil had designed for this client. A homely, yet modern theme was preferred with a combination of Stone Grey and Slate grey matt units opted for. These two finishes are complimented by Havana oak wood accents and the handless design of the kitchen. To meet the client’s requirements, an island, TV area and full-height corner storage feature, in addition to a wall-to-wall run which houses kitchen appliances and storage. Special Inclusions Special inclusions are aplenty in this kitchen. A grid of appliances is comprised of a Neff slide & hide oven, combination oven, warming drawer, coffee centre and Caple wine cabinet. Each provide an array of useful functions for this client, and elsewhere are accompanied by a Neff induction hob, Neff telescopic extractor hood and a Quooker 100°C boiling water tap. Designer Phil has incorporated numerous design features like a glass-ended unit on the island, cookbook storage space, feature shelving in the TV area and a raised natural wood work surface on the island. Our structural team were also tasked with widening an exterior doorway and fitting bi-fold doors which look out to the vibrant garden. Project Highlight The TV area is a lovely highlight of this project. Phil has framed this with additional storage and decorative wood effect shelving. Nearby a full-height radiator and full-height storage provide warmth and even more storage to the kitchen space. The End Result The end result is a space that is unrecognisable and has been completely transformed with the expertise of our fitting team. In addition to the structural works, Karndean flooring, lighting and heating improvements have been made involving almost every facet of our installation team. Challenge: Redesign the kitchen area for the original owner who built this home in the early 1970’s. Our design challenge was to create a completely new space that was functional, beautiful and much more open. The original kitchen, storage and utility spaces were outdated and very chopped up with a mechanical closet placed in the middle of the space located directly in front of the only large window in the room. We relocated the mechanical closet and the utility room to the back of the space with a Butler’s Pantry separating the two. The original large window is now revealed with a new lowered eating bar and a second island centered on it, featuring a dramatic linear light fixture above. We enlarged the window over the main kitchen sink for more light and created a new window to the right of the sink with a view towards the pool. The main cooking area of the kitchen features a large island with elevated walnut seating bar and 36” gas cooktop. A full 36” Built-in Refrigerator is located in the Kitchen with an additional Sub-Zero Refrigerator and Freezer located in the Butler’s Pantry. Result: Client’s Dream Kitchen Realized. Le richieste di Francesco per la sua cucina non erano molte. In pratica voleva un tavolo da pranzo per ospitare 2/4 persone, un frigo e congelatore capienti, lo spazio per la tv. E doveva avere il piano a induzione perché l'appartamento è di nuova costruzione. Prima di proporgli una soluzione di arredo, mi sono riservata del tempo con Francesco per capire cosa abitualmente fa e cosa si aspetta di poter fare in una cucina. Ho approfondito le sue esigenze attuali e mi sono fatta un'idea delle sue necessità future. Ed ho capito che, senza verbalizzarle, Francesco aveva bisogno di molto altro. Aveva bisogno di molto spazio contenitivo e di tanta illuminazione; la cucina doveva essere facile da pulire e fatta di materiale resistente, soprattutto il piano di lavoro doveva assolutamente essere di facile manutenzione. Siccome è un ragazzo giovane e con gusti moderni, il forno doveva essere assolutamente alto e il materiale di lavello e rubinetti doveva essere adatto ad un uso "senza troppe cerimonie" e, aggiungo io, in nuance con il top e i colori di basi e pensili. Infine, aveva assolutamente bisogno di uno spazio che fungesse da sgabuzzino per mettere i prodotti della pulizia e l'aspirapolvere. Lo spazio di questa cucina rettangolare, con due ante a battente come finestra, è ampio. Gli ho proposto una cucina bicolor, con basi di qualche tonalità più scura rispetto ai pensili. Piano di lavoro in materiale super resistente multicolor ma con tutte le tonalità presenti in cucina. Lavello e rubinetto in nuance, anch'essi in materiale resistente e facile da pulire. Luci sottopensili per tutta la lunghezza e cappa a scomparsa. Ampi cesti scorrevoli molto contenitivi, anche nelle basi ad angolo. Doppia colonna per forno, frigorifero con congelatore e spazio ad uno "sgabuzzino" per aspirapolvere e prodotti pulizia. Sotto al lavello, ampio e comodo spazio per la raccolta differenziata. L'illuminazione è completata da un lampadario originalissimo con più punti luce direzionati verso lo spazio tecnico e verso il tavolo da pranzo. Il tavolo da pranzo è allungabile mediante un meccanismo semplice e funzionale. Completano l'arredo le 4 sedie in materiale leggero e resistente, bicolor, abbinate a coppia. AL posto del rivestimento verticale in classiche piastrelle, ho optato per una pittura super lavabile di una tonalità di verde, con sfumature metalliche/iridescenti, protetta da vernice idonea al locale, che dona all'ambiente calore e particolarità, oltre ad essere in nuance con i colori presenti nel living adiacente.

This large open plan kitchen features a combination of stunning textures as well as colours from natural wood grain, to copper and hand painted elements creating an exciting Mix & Match style. An open room divider provides the perfect zoning piece of furniture to allow interaction between the kitchen and cosy relaxed seating area. The layout is high wall storage to one side with bench storage along the other side. The central island with bar seating is 3350mm long! The seating is arranged at the dining end of the island allowing family members to sit around it in a U-Shape so that all can face each other or enjoy the view to the exterior. The benchtop is engineered stone, Caesarstone Statuario Nuvo. The cabinetry is 2-PAC Lacquer Paint Finish. The kick board is Stainless Steel. The extrusion handle ensures that the kitchen has a clean finish. The extrusion adds a horizontal line detail that makes the kitchen feel longer and adds subtle interest. The glass splashback provides a slightly different finish to the other surfaces and hence adds to the simplicity of the aesthetics of this kitchen.
