This 1950s home was sporting elements of the original kitchen and the dark space was not meeting our client’s needs. The original kitchen didn’t have much to offer in the way of functionality, so our first order of business was to create a design that would exponentially increase the usability of the kitchen. We brought in functional cabinetry, introduced uninterrupted work surfaces, and added plenty of lighting to brighten up their kitchen. They also wanted to open the new kitchen to the living room and create space for a larger dining table, so we started by removing the existing cabinetry that was visually cut the living space in two and minimized the power of the dramatic vaulted ceiling. We also extended the wood flooring into the kitchen as well to create seamless transitions between spaces. We fell in love with the idea of a two-toned cabinetry design for this kitchen and ultimately went head over heels for clean white painted base cabinets and a textured wood-look melamine on the uppers. This gave us a crisp backdrop that allowed us to bring is fun forms like the black light fixture over the table and the gorgeous silhouettes on the hardware. We played a lot with directionality in this space. The elongated open shelves and rectangular backsplash tiles give us wonderfully clean horizontal lines, but to balance those out we brought in a vertical grain pattern on the wall cabinets and added long black cabinetry pulls that emphasize the verticality of the space. The clients have a green thumb and wanted to make sure we created a home for their growing plant collection. The open shelving gives us plenty of opportunities for foliage and to showcase fun kitchen accessories. This design feels like home and brings together the clean lines and crisp finishes our clients were looking.

Blending commercial-grade appliances and countertops with modern cabinets has yielded a wonderful kitchen dynamic. The effortless class of the modern cabinets with the functionality of commercial countertops is something that we were so excited to provide to our client. They have since told us they are so glad they went with stainless steel.

This very typical layout in Australian homes, was perfectly customised for this client. Generous storage, ample bench space and specifically requested features such as the corner pantry, double ovens, sink drawers, and smaller top-drawer sets, together with plenty of seating for everyone in the family, create a beautifully customised look. The soft neutral tones of the kitchen makes a perfect backdrop for the pretty view outside, as well as for this family's collection of artwork. The pendant lights over the breakfast bar not only assist to light the area, their form also adds to the light mood of this space.

Here we have some great images from a ground floor extension and interior we completed over in North West London. The kitchen formed part of a full ground floor renovation and extension, with the kitchen being doubled in size and combined with a dining table leading to the out door area. At the end of the room the media unit was built bespoke to include a lounge area making the kitchen a complete family room for entertaining and relaxing in. Another room in the North west London ground floor renovation is this cosy living room, the bespoke storage unit built into the dividing wall between this room and the kitchen allows for an array of books and curios to be displayed and made a feature of. Coupled with the concealed units dispersed across the unit, the gloss white painted finish allows the vibrant blue paint and displayed objects to become the focus. Finished with beautiful tanned leather couches and LED lighting to make the room comfortable for reading and socialising.⁠

Now the kitchen ends where a wall had once existed between the kitchen and dining room. Providing a place for the beverage refrigerator near the dining table is convenient and glassware for wine and drinks is in the cabinet to the left of the refrigerator. Now instead of looking at a wall from the dining room table, guests can look out to the nearby deck and trees. The peninsula provides a surface for buffet dining as well.

The simple Navy cabinets, pendant glass lights, and playful, scallop-patterned backsplash engage the senses by reflecting the blues of the nearby water, while the wall of white subway tile delineates the kitchen from the rest of the open area. This has the effect of drawing the eye up to the vaulted ceiling, which complements the house’s architecture instead of fighting it. The once-dingy space is now alive with light and color, adding an exciting new dimension to this waterside home.

This traditional home needed a modern upgrade, so they came to Divine Design Center to get the job done. The combination of white countertops and cabinets alongside gray panels and stainless steel appliances not only looks very clean and sleek, but also blends in seamlessly with the surrounding interior that was not included in this project.
