Keeping all interior furnishing at a low profile so that your eye stays focused on the crystal blue Pacific. Adding natural furs and playful colors to the homes neutral palate kept the space warm and cozy. Plants and trees helped complete the space and allowed “life” to flow inside and out. For the exterior furnishings we chose natural teak and neutral colors, but added pops of orange to contrast against the bright blue skyline. This open floor plan kitchen, living room, dining room, and staircase. Owner wanted a transitional flare with mid century, industrial, contemporary, modern, and masculinity. This moody German Style Kitchen is designed around simplicity and clean lines. Every aspect of this design is based on minimalism, so a glass splashback was never up for debate. Similar to the cabinetry itself, the glass splashbacks minimal lines, and neutral colour do nothing to detract from the room or view. This large space is over five metres from the window (and source of light) however, the glass splashback acts as a mirror, reflecting both light and the sea view!

3119 Harrison Street consists of two contemporary, 3,000 square foot homes near San Francisco’s Mission District. The project involved excavating the lot 12 feet below ground level to make room for a shared six car underground garage, and two subterranean residences. The town homes were designed with a modern and clean approach, utilizing light wood tones and a minimalistic style. Both homes were thoughtfully designed to maximize space efficiency, allowing residents to live comfortably in an urban setting where space is always at a premium. To make the most of the residence's outdoor space courtyards and rooftop decks were also created as a space for entertaining.

“I fell in love with the height of the flat and the structural metal beam that runs through the flat,” adds the owner. “It has such a different feel to other flats in period properties in the area and as I’ve always loved that loft look, it was the perfect canvas for me to have some fun and create.

The villa kitchen provides the perfect setting. The large window over the sink looks out to a deck dining area. Stainless steel countertops are easy to care for. Warm and cool are combined by setting off the stainless steel faced cabinetry with a deep red wall, wood accents and red sisal rug. Open shelves for often-used dishware allow for convenience as well as a sense of rhythm and repetition, one of Jane's favorite motifs. The result is a kitchen that imbues the food -- and the kitchen conversation -- with lively energy.

This residence is situated on a flat site with views north and west to the mountain range. The opposing roof forms open the primary living spaces on the ground floor to these views, while the upper floor captures the sun and view to the south. The integrity of these two forms are emphasized by a linear skylight at their meeting point. The sequence of entry to the house begins at the south of the property adjacent to a vast conservation easement, and is fortified by a wall that defines a path of movement and connects the interior spaces to the outdoors.
