The original house was very dark as all the walls were dark wood. To fill the space with light, the ceiling was painted to white and walls were finished with painted gypboard. The island allows for an incredible open cooking and living space with views to the ocean.

Der von allen Seiten bedienbare Würfel bildet den Mittelpunkt des Hauses. Er dient nicht nur als Schrankwand der Küche mit Kühlgerät und Backofen, sondern beinhaltet zugleich die Garderobe auf der Rückseite und das Reduit im Herzen. Die materialgleiche gegenüberliegende Treppe bietet ebenso Stauraum für den täglichen Gebrauch und ist für den Gast als solche nicht wahrzunehmen. Einzig und alleine die Arbeitszeilen der Küche setzen sich durch ein deftiges Grau ab. Fotograf: Bodo Mertoglu

Designed and Executed by Juro Design, this kitchen was completely re-imagined to create a timeless space that builds appeal and interest through layered decor elements. The final result exceeded our clients' expectations and has become a design focal point. ​Materials used: Laminex Absolute Matte Black cabinets, paired with concrete benchtops and finished off with custom solid blackbutt timber handles and feature details. The door to the pantry forms part of the cabinetry concealing it from view. We also have a custom made sliding access panel incorporated into the splashback with the benchtop following through proving functional easy access to the pantry.

Moderniser une cuisine dans un intérieur à l'esprit Haussmannien n’est pas si simple. Il faut arriver à harmoniser deux styles pour n’en créer qu’un. Nous avons conservé ce sol sublime et travailler sur les hauteurs. 3 mètres sous plafond ce n’est pas rien ! Un coffrage avec des spots led a été installé. En plus des interrupteurs, une télécommande permet d’adapter la lumière aux besoins du moment. Des armoires de 2m85 habillent l’espace et offrent un maximum de rangements. Pour donner de la profondeur à la pièce, nous avons sélectionné des meubles Italiens sans poignées et une crédence en verre sur mesure de 3m50 de long. Tout est encastré à 100%, de la cuve en Inox très large, aux poubelles coulissantes de 40 litres en passant par le réfrigérateur combiné. Côté cuisson, nous retrouvons une plaque à gaz feu Wok associée à une hotte silencieuse et son filtre plasma. Comme le souhaitaient mes clients, il est désormais possible de déjeuner en tête à tête dans un espace épuré et lumineux. M & Mme Z sont très satisfaits du résultat et je les remercie d’avoir fait confiance à mon équipe pour transformer radicalement leur ancienne cuisine. This holistic project involved the design of a completely new space layout, as well as searching for perfect materials, furniture, decorations and tableware to match the already existing elements of the house. The key challenge concerning this project was to improve the layout, which was not functional and proportional. Balance on the interior between contemporary and retro was the key to achieve the effect of a coherent and welcoming space. Passionate about vintage, the client possessed a vast selection of old trinkets and furniture. The main focus of the project was how to include the sideboard,(from the 1850’s) which belonged to the client’s grandmother, and how to place harmoniously within the aerial space. To create this harmony, the tones represented on the sideboard’s vitrine were used as the colour mood for the house. The sideboard was placed in the central part of the space in order to be visible from the hall, kitchen, dining room and living room. The kitchen fittings are aligned with the worktop and top part of the chest of drawers. Green-grey glazing colour is a common element of all of the living spaces. In the the living room, the stage feeling is given by it’s main actor, the grand piano and the cabinets of curiosities, which were rearranged around it to create that effect. A neutral background consisting of the combination of soft walls and minimalist furniture in order to exhibit retro elements of the interior. Long live the vintage!
