This Clean Cape Cod Kitchen with custom hood and bead board ceilings is very popular with our followers. Local stone with sandy tones was used for the backsplash and counter tops. This kitchen has many interesting elements that set it apart. The sense of openness is created by the raised ceiling and multiple ceiling levels, lighting and light colored cabinets. A custom hood over the stone back splash creates a wonderful focal point with it's traditional style architectural mill work complimenting the islands use of reclaimed wood (as seen on the ceiling as well) transitional tapered legs, and the use of Carrara marble on the island top. The new owners wanted a combined family room and kitchen with vistas of Glover Archbold Park which is just behind their house. The original kitchen was interior and was only about 8’ x 8’ in size. We took the existing first floor space that was a small kitchen, family room, half bath and entry foyer and moved the kitchen. We removed structural bearing walls and replaced them with a steel structural beam to open up a 20’ x 20’ space that became a kitchen/breakfast/family room area. The previous small glass family room used single glazed glass windows and door. . The cabinetry feels like pieces of furniture rather than wall-to-wall kitchen cabinets. A residence designed for informal gathering and relaxation on a quiet cove near Acadia National Park. Conceived of as a compound of connected gathering spaces with adjacent private retreat spaces. The "village" of structures is designed to open and close seasonally with large sliding barn doors. These also modulate light, air and views into and out of the cottages. Carefully positioned to take advantage of the rich variety of views and sloping topography, the cottages have integral terraces and retaining walls to negotiate the undulating land-form. One arrives at the high point of the site and the long barn axis and navigates between the cottages to the main entrance. Once inside, the home deliberately reveals unique views to the ocean, mountains and surrounding spruce forest.

On the floor is Congoleum Triversa Prime Oak Grove vinyl plank flooring in Warm Grey color. Andersen Casement Combo 200 Series Patio Doors with white exterior and interior were installed.

This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area that connects to a screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear facing exercise has great views of the rear yard through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below.
