A Gilmans Kitchens and Baths - Design Build Project (REMMIES Award Winning Kitchen) The original kitchen lacked counter space and seating for the homeowners and their family and friends. It was important for the homeowners to utilize every inch of usable space for storage, function and entertaining, so many organizational inserts were used in the kitchen design. Bamboo cabinets, cork flooring and neolith countertops were used in the design. Storage Solutions include a spice pull-out, towel pull-out, pantry pull outs and lemans corner cabinets. Bifold lift up cabinets were also used for convenience. Special organizational inserts were used in the Pantry cabinets for maximum organization. After a sand and polish, the timber cabinet doors have shaved off a few years, and the replacement of the laminate/timber edged counter tops (with widened sink counter ), this kitchen is truly transformed. When a gorgeous sunroom was added to the side of this kitchen, the homeowner had no idea how to remodel the kitchen to work with the new addition. We used our design expertise to create an open plan kitchen worthy of family style cooking and get-togethers. Planning around professional style appliances, we created easy storage, large aisles and decorative accents that bring Joy to the homeowner.

This new layout maximize the counter top and cabinet storage, by moving the refrigerator to another area. This Spanish style kitchen is much more functional and spacious. Removing the wall allowed the us to create a counter height bar and a great setup for entertaining.

The 1960's atomic ranch-style home's new kitchen features and large kitchen island, dual pull-out pantries on either side of a 48" built-in refrigerator, separate wine refrigerator, built-in coffee maker and no wall cabinets.

This kitchen was only made possible by a combination of manipulating the architecture of the house and redefining the spaces. Some structural limitations gave rise to elegant solutions in the design of the demising walls and the ceiling over the kitchen. This ceiling design motif was repeated for the breakfast area and the dining room adjacent. The former porch was captured to the interior for an enhanced breakfast room. New defining walls established a language that was repeated in the cabinet layout. A walnut eating bar is shaped to match the walnut cabinets that surround the fridge. This bridge shape was again repeated in the shape of the countertop. Two-tone cabinets of black gloss lacquer and horizontal grain-matched walnut create a striking contrast to each other and are complimented by the limestone floor and stainless appliances. By intentionally leaving the cooktop wall empty of uppers that tough the ceiling, a simple solution of walnut backsplash panels adds to the width perception of the room. This homes timeless design captures the essence of Santa Barbara Style. Indoor and outdoor spaces intertwine as you move from one to the other. Amazing views, intimately scaled spaces, subtle materials, thoughtfully detailed, and warmth from natural light are all elements that make this home feel so welcoming. The outdoor areas all have unique views and the property landscaping is well tailored to complement the architecture. We worked with the Client and Sharon Fannin interiors.
