The unique roof lines are mimicked throughout the home with trapezoid transom windows, ensuring optimal daylighting and design interest. A standing-seam metal, clads the multi-tiered shed-roof line. The dark aesthetic of the roof anchors the home and brings a cohesion to the exterior design. The contemporary exterior is comprised of cedar shake, horizontal and vertical wood siding, and aluminum clad panels creating dimension while remaining true to the natural environment. The Glo A5 double pane windows and doors were utilized for their cost-effective durability and efficiency. The A5 Series provides a thermally-broken aluminum frame with multiple air seals, low iron glass, argon filled glazing, and low-e coating. These features create an unparalleled double-pane product equipped for the variant northern temperatures of the region. With u-values as low as 0.280, these windows ensure year-round comfort.

Project 3362-1 NE Minneapolis Traditional Kitchen Refresh - Castle Building & Remodeling, Inc. Twin Cities MN 55418 This project was a unique kitchen refresh project. The original Northeast Minneapolis home was built in 1920, and sometime in the 90’s an addition with a remodeled kitchen was completed. While the current homeowners appreciated the size and general layout of the kitchen, they wanted a more open floor plan to the dining room and to add some additional storage within the existing kitchen space. An old desk area was not useful for them, so that was removed and the fridge was moved to that area. New cabinets were added in the corner for some additional storage space for the homeowner’s baking goods and was set up as a coffee area. Where the old fridge once stood, the wall was opened up to create a new, wider opening to the dining room with a new peninsula for their kids and guests to sit. With some challenges in finding significant plumbing and HVAC in the wall being opened, the end result is a little different than originally planned – but that is the story of remodeling! All the original oak and new, matched oak cabinets were stained darker on the bottom, and painted white on the top. New Cambria countertops add a classic touch to the space, and the homeowners did a fantastic job of installing their own tile backsplash and Adura luxury vinyl flooring. They now have a more classic yet eclectic space to entertain their guests (and children) in for years to come. You don’t always need new kitchen cabinetry, sometimes making what you have work is a great solution! This beautiful kitchen in the Lowcountry needed a refresh so we knocked down their existing breakfast bar creating a peninsula where all new quartz countertops were now the same height. Pushing in a bank of counter stools increased the seating in this busy kitchen – the heart of the home! Adding a timeless touch of white subway tile lightened and brightened the entire kitchen and bounced light off the new countertops!

This 1950's kitchen hindered our client's cooking and bi-weekly entertaining and was inconsistent with the home's mid-century architecture. Additional key goals were to improve function for cooking and entertaining 6 to 12 people on a regular basis. Originally with only two entry points to the kitchen (from the entry/foyer and from the dining room) the kitchen wasn’t very open to the remainder of the home, or the living room at all. The door to the carport was never used and created a conflict with seating in the breakfast area. The new plans created larger openings to both rooms, and a third entry point directly into the living room. The “peninsula” manages the sight line between the kitchen and a large, brick fireplace while still creating an “island” effect in the kitchen and allowing seating on both sides. The television was also a “must have” utilizing it to watch cooking shows while prepping food, for news while getting ready for the day, and for background when entertaining. Meticulously designed cabinets provide ample storage and ergonomically friendly appliance placement. Cabinets were previously laid out into two L-shaped spaces. On the “top” was the cooking area with a narrow pantry (read: scarce storage) and a water heater in the corner. On the “bottom” was a single 36” refrigerator/freezer, and sink. A peninsula separated the kitchen and breakfast room, truncating the entire space. We have now a clearly defined cool storage space spanning 60” width (over 150% more storage) and have separated the ovens and cooking surface to spread out prep/clean zones. True pantry storage was added, and a massive “peninsula” keeps seating for up to 6 comfortably, while still expanding the kitchen and gaining storage. The newly designed, oversized peninsula provides plentiful space for prepping and entertaining. Walnut paneling wraps the room making the kitchen a stunning showpiece.

A two-bed, two-bath condo located in the Historic Capitol Hill neighborhood of Washington, DC was reimagined with the clean lined sensibilities and celebration of beautiful materials found in Mid-Century Modern designs. A soothing gray-green color palette sets the backdrop for cherry cabinetry and white oak floors. Specialty lighting, handmade tile, and a slate clad corner fireplace further elevate the space. A new Trex deck with cable railing system connects the home to the outdoors.

In this kitchen remodel, Medallion Gold series cabinetry in Cherry Park Place door with flat center panel stained in Chestnut accented with Richelieu Classic Metal Handle pull in Brushed Nickel. Corian in Aurora was installed on the countertop and Natura Adex 3x6” Linen Crackle backsplash tile with bar molding to finish the exposed ends. An oval Kichler ceiling light fixture was installed.
