For a single woman working in downtown San Francisco, we were tasked with remodeling her 500 sq.ft. Victorian garden condo. We brought in more light by enlarging most of the openings to the rear and adding a sliding glass door in the kitchen. The kitchen features custom zebrawood cabinets, CaesarStone counters, stainless steel appliances and a large, deep square sink. The bathroom features a wall-hung Duravit vanity and toilet, recessed lighting, custom, built-in medicine cabinets and geometric glass tile. Wood tones in the kitchen and bath add a note of warmth to the clean modern lines. We designed a soft blue custom desk/tv unit and white bookshelves in the living room to make the most out of the space available. A modern JØTUL fireplace stove heats the space stylishly. We replaced all of the Victorian trim throughout with clean, modern trim and organized the ducts and pipes into soffits to create as orderly look as possible with the existing conditions.

Condos are often a challenge – can’t move water, venting has to remain connected to existing ducting and recessed cans may not be an option. In this project, we had an added challenge – we could not lower the ceiling on the exterior wall due to a continual leak issue that the HOA has put off due to the multi-million-dollar expense. DESIGN PHILOSOPHY: Work Centers: prep, baking, clean up, message, beverage and entertaining. Vignette Design: avoid wall to wall cabinets, enhance the work center philosophy Geometry: create a more exciting and natural flow ANGLES: the baking center features a Miele wall oven and Liebherr Freezer, the countertop is 36” deep (allowing for an extra deep appliance garage with stainless tambour). CURVES: the island, desk and ceiling is curved to create a more natural flow. A raised drink counter in Sapele allows for “bellying up to the bar” CIRCLES: the 60” table (seating for 6) is supported by a steel plate and a custom column (used also to support the end of the curved desk – not shown) ISLAND CHALLENGE: To install recessed cans and connect to the existing ducting – we dropped the ceiling 6”. The dropped ceiling curves at the end of the island to the existing ceiling height at the pantry/desk area of the kitchen. Our clients desired to keep their original 1950’s wood cabinetry but update their tired laminate counters and dated appliances. Our solution was to install striking cobalt blue Silestone countertops to complement the original cabinetry while providing a durable work surface for prep. In addition, existing cabinetry was retro-fitted to accept modern appliances (no easy task!) and a more functional eating bar was added. Retro Bertoia-inspired bar stools complement the vintage kitchen’s new aesthetic. --- Project designed by Pasadena interior design studio Soul Interiors Design. A convergence of sleek contemporary style and organic elements culminate in this elevated esthetic. High gloss white contrasts with sustainable bamboo veneers, run horizontally, and stained a warm matte caramel color. The showpiece is the 3” bamboo framing around the tall units, engineered in strips that perfectly align with the breaks in the surrounding cabinetry. So as not to clutter the clean lines of the flat panel doors, the white cabinets open with touch latches, most of which have lift-up mechanisms. Base cabinets have integrated channel hardware in stainless steel, echoing the appliances. Storage abounds, with such conveniences as tray partitions, corner swing-out lazy susans, and assorted dividers and inserts for the profusion of large drawers. Pure white quartz countertops terminate in a waterfall end at the peninsula, where there’s room for three comfortable stools under the overhang. A unique feature is the execution of the cooktop: it’s set flush into the countertop, with a fascia of quartz below it; the cooktop’s knobs are set into that fascia. To assure a clean look throughout, the quartz is continued onto the backsplashes, punctuated by a sheet of stainless steel behind the rangetop and hood. Serenity and style in a hardworking space. Originally built in the 1980s, this Dellwood residence needed a Kitchen and Half Bath facelift. Now the Kitchen features custom horizontal grain-matched African Mahogany cabinetry, granite countertops, new fixtures, appliances (including a sub-zero refrigerator), lighting and wood floors. The same African Mahogany was used for the installation of casework flanking the existing fireplace.

We remodeled he entire home for this client, kitchen, two bathrooms and flooring through out the whole house, we also painted all of the interior. Kitchen included new cabinets, appliances, and countertops. Bathrooms included new flooring, walking showers and new vanities.
