In our world of kitchen design, it’s lovely to see all the varieties of styles come to life. From traditional to modern, and everything in between, we love to design a broad spectrum. Here, we present a two-tone modern kitchen that has used materials in a fresh and eye-catching way. With a mix of finishes, it blends perfectly together to create a space that flows and is the pulsating heart of the home. With the main cooking island and gorgeous prep wall, the cook has plenty of space to work. The second island is perfect for seating – the three materials interacting seamlessly, we have the main white material covering the cabinets, a short grey table for the kids, and a taller walnut top for adults to sit and stand while sipping some wine! I mean, who wouldn’t want to spend time in this kitchen?! Cabinetry With a tuxedo trend look, we used Cabico Elmwood New Haven door style, walnut vertical grain in a natural matte finish. The white cabinets over the sink are the Ventura MDF door in a White Diamond Gloss finish. Countertops The white counters on the perimeter and on both islands are from Caesarstone in a Frosty Carrina finish, and the added bar on the second countertop is a custom walnut top (made by the homeowner!) with a shorter seated table made from Caesarstone’s Raw Concrete. Backsplash The stone is from Marble Systems from the Mod Glam Collection, Blocks – Glacier honed, in Snow White polished finish, and added Brass. Fixtures A Blanco Precis Silgranit Cascade Super Single Bowl Kitchen Sink in White works perfect with the counters. A Waterstone transitional pulldown faucet in New Bronze is complemented by matching water dispenser, soap dispenser, and air switch. The cabinet hardware is from Emtek – their Trinity pulls in brass. Appliances The cooktop, oven, steam oven and dishwasher are all from Miele. The dishwashers are paneled with cabinetry material (left/right of the sink) and integrate seamlessly Refrigerator and Freezer columns are from SubZero and we kept the stainless look to break up the walnut some. The microwave is a counter sitting Panasonic with a custom wood trim (made by Cabico) and the vent hood is from Zephyr.

Beautiful, expansive Midcentury Modern family home located in Dover Shores, Newport Beach, California. This home was gutted to the studs, opened up to take advantage of its gorgeous views and designed for a family with young children. Le projet Un appartement familial en Vente en Etat Futur d’Achèvement (VEFA) où tout reste à faire. Les propriétaires ont su tirer profit du délai de construction pour anticiper aménagements, choix des matériaux et décoration avec l’aide de Decor Interieur. Notre solution A partir des plans du constructeur, nous avons imaginé un espace à vivre qui malgré sa petite surface (32m2) doit pouvoir accueillir une famille de 4 personnes confortablement et bénéficier de rangements avec une cuisine ouverte. Pour optimiser l’espace, la cuisine en U est configurée pour intégrer un maximum de rangements tout en étant très design pour s’intégrer parfaitement au séjour. Dans la pièce à vivre donnant sur une large terrasse, il fallait intégrer des espaces de rangements pour la vaisselle, des livres, un grand téléviseur et une cheminée éthanol ainsi qu’un canapé et une grande table pour les repas. Pour intégrer tous ces éléments harmonieusement, un grand ensemble menuisé toute hauteur a été conçu sur le mur faisant face à l’entrée. Celui-ci bénéficie de rangements bas fermés sur toute la longueur du meuble. Au dessus de ces rangements et afin de ne pas alourdir l’ensemble, un espace a été créé pour la cheminée éthanol et le téléviseur. Vient ensuite de nouveaux rangements fermés en hauteur et des étagères. Ce meuble en plus d’être très fonctionnel et élégant permet aussi de palier à une problématique de mur sur deux niveaux qui est ainsi résolue. De plus dès le moment de la conception nous avons pu intégrer le fait qu’un radiateur était mal placé et demander ainsi en amont au constructeur son déplacement. Pour bénéficier de la vue superbe sur Paris, l’espace salon est placé au plus près de la large baie vitrée. L’espace repas est dans l’alignement sur l’autre partie du séjour avec une grande table à allonges. Le style L’ensemble de la pièce à vivre avec cuisine est dans un style très contemporain avec une dominante de gris anthracite en contraste avec un bleu gris tirant au turquoise choisi en harmonie avec un panneau de papier peint Pierre Frey. Pour réchauffer la pièce un parquet a été choisi sur les pièces à vivre. Dans le même esprit la cuisine mixe le bois et l’anthracite en façades avec un plan de travail quartz noir, un carrelage au sol et les murs peints anthracite. Un petit comptoir surélevé derrière les meubles bas donnant sur le salon est plaqué bois. Le mobilier design reprend des teintes présentes sur le papier peint coloré, comme le jaune (canapé) et le bleu (fauteuil). Chaises, luminaires, miroirs et poignées de meuble sont en laiton. Une chaise vintage restaurée avec un tissu d’éditeur au style Art Deco vient compléter l’ensemble, tout comme une table basse ronde avec un plateau en marbre noir.

This true mid-century modern home was ready to be revived. The home was built in 1959 and lost its character throughout the various remodels over the years. Our clients came to us trusting that with our help, they could love their home again. This design is full of clean lines, yet remains playful and organic. The first steps in the kitchen were removing the soffit above the previous cabinets and reworking the cabinet layout. They didn't have an island before and the hood was in the middle of the room. They gained so much storage in the same square footage of kitchen. We started by incorporating custom flat slab walnut cabinetry throughout the home. We lightened up the rooms with bright white countertops and gave the kitchen a 3-dimensional emerald green backsplash tile. In the hall bathroom, we chose a penny round floor tile, a terrazzo tile installed in a grid pattern from floor-to-ceiling behind the floating vanity. The hexagon mirror and asymmetrical pendant light are unforgettable. We finished it with a frameless glass panel in the shower and crisp, white tile. In the master bath, we chose a wall-mounted faucet, a full wall of glass tile which runs directly into the shower niche and a geometric floor tile. Our clients can't believe this is the same home and they feel so lucky to be able to enjoy it every day.

Mid-Century Modern Kitchen that transcends decades of modernism from 1950's to 21st Century. Combine an "L" shaped kitchen with a bar pass through to the dining room

The brief for this unique kitchen was for it to be ‘a huge piece of furniture’. Well….. challenge accepted. To achieve this goal, we knew that we needed to approach the design from the details outwards, so we started with the cabinet doors. As the kitchen was to be over three levels rather than the traditional two, and because we wanted to articulate the idea of ‘furniture’ rather than ‘kitchen cabinets’, we designed three complimentary cabinet doors, each with their own personalities. Door pulls and pan hooks were made from beautiful hexagonal brass rods, and drawers were lined for cutlery, utensils and cookware. A slim shelf above the splashback provided a place for kitchen essentials like salt and oil. The mid-level of the kitchen was kept clean and uncluttered by means of our signature F+B ‘School House’ off-white lacquer, so that the wood didn’t feel overpowering. But the main event is the truss shelf that spans the open side of the kitchen like a portal frame. This beautifully detailed piece of Japanese-inspired design gives space for the client’s collection of Asian ceramics, and for our bespoke Japanese shoji paper lanterns, which light the space. A unique kitchen, handmade like only a furniture maker could.
