Classic British Kitchen in Horsham, West Sussex Sage Green cabinetry combines with sparkling accents in this Horsham project, which also involved a structural change. The Brief This Horsham based client sought a structural adjustment to their property and were planning to remove a dividing wall to combine their kitchen and dining room area. The previous kitchen area was compact and dark due to the dividing wall, so they favoured a design that made the most of natural light and a layout that made the new room feel spacious. From early conversations with designer Alistair, the client favoured a green finish with vibrant accents. A new floor was also required as part of the project. Design Elements The finished project makes use of an L shaped layout, complete with a peninsula island, which was a key desirable of the client. A green finish was favoured from the outset, with the client opting for a subtle Sage Green colour. It has been nicely complimented by accents in the form of copper door handles and a metallic gold splashback. Lighting was a key consideration for this project, and the layout makes the most of the natural light pouring in from the rear of the property. Downlights and undercabinet lighting add another level of ambience to this kitchen. Special Inclusions In addition to the new kitchen the client sought to enhance functionality with an array of appliances from Siemens. A Siemens single oven, combination oven, refrigerator, freezer, hob, and extractor have all been specified in this kitchen space. The client also wished to indulge in a wine cabinet, which is a built-in Siemens model. Project Highlight The highlight of this kitchen area is the sparkling sink, splashback and worktop area. The client favoured an integrated sink, which is fabricated of the same quartz finish: Lagoon, as the work surface. A Quooker 100°C boiling water tap is also installed in this kitchen. The End Result This project highlights the amazing capabilities of our complete installation option. Originally two compact and poorly lit rooms have been combined into a light filled kitchen and dining space, with a new kitchen and new Karndean flooring to compliment. The functionality of this spacious kitchen is a far cry from its humble beginnings as a lackluster 9 x 12 foot stretch. The exterior wall was blown out to allow for a 10 ft addition. The daring slab of Calacatta Vagli marble with intrepid British racing green veining was the inspiration for the expansion. Spanish Revival pendants reclaimed from a local restaurant, long forgotten, are a pinnacle feature over the island. Reclaimed wood drawers, juxtaposed with custom glass cupboards add gobs of storage. Cabinets are painted the same luxe green hue and the warmth of butcher block counters create a hard working bar area begging for character-worn use. The perimeter of the kitchen features soapstone counters and that nicely balance the whisper of mushroom-colored custom cabinets. Hand-made 4x4 zellige tiles, hung in a running bond pattern, pay sweet homage to the 1950’s era of the home. A large window flanked by antique brass sconces adds bonus natural light over the sink. Textural, centuries-old barn wood surrounding the range hood adds a cozy surprise element. Matte white appliances with brushed bronze and copper hardware tie in the mixed metals throughout the kitchen helping meld the overall dramatic design.

By removing the double-sided fireplace and built-in bookcases closing off the Family Room, removing the closed-off bar area, and re-imagining the awkward walk-in pantry and kitchen layout, our Designer, Sarah envisioned an expansive Kitchen footprint that connected all the key areas and significantly increased the amount of available storage and countertop space, making this Kitchen the perfect entertaining environment! Replacing the cherry cabinetry, black granite countertops, and dark hardwood floors with white shaker upper cabinets, dark green lower cabinets, light-colored hardwood flooing, and a new lighting design completely transformed the space from dark and compartmentalized, to bright and open. This Kitchen is full of brilliant custom pieces and organization cabinets, including a HIDDEN walk-in pantry (which is the family’s favorite)!

Compost Drawer. The Jack + Mare designed and built this custom kitchen and dining remodel for a family in Portland's Sellwood Westmoreland Neighborhood. The wall between the kitchen and dining room was removed to create an inviting and flowing space with custom details in all directions. The custom maple dining table was locally milled and crafted from a tree that had previously fallen in Portland's Laurelhurst neighborhood; and the built-in L-shaped maple banquette provides unique comfortable seating with drawer storage beneath. The integrated kitchen and dining room has become the social hub of the house – the table can comfortably sit up to 10 people! Being that the kitchen is visible from the dining room, the refrigerator and dishwasher are hidden behind cabinet door fronts that seamlessly tie-in with the surrounding cabinetry creating a warm and inviting space. The end result is a highly functional kitchen for the chef and a comfortable and practical space for family and friends. Details: custom cabinets (designed by The J+M) with shaker door fronts, a baker's pantry, built-in banquette with integrated storage, custom local silver maple table, solid oak flooring to match original 1925 flooring, white ceramic tile backsplash, new lighting plan featuring a Cedar + Moss pendant, all L.E.D. can lights, Carrara marble countertops, new larger windows to bring in more natural light and new trim. Dramatic and moody never looked so good, or so inviting. Beautiful shiplap detailing on the wood hood and the kitchen island create a sleek modern farmhouse vibe in the decidedly modern kitchen. An entire wall of tall cabinets conceals a large refrigerator in plain sight and a walk-in pantry for amazing storage. Two beautiful counter-sitting larder cabinets flank each side of the cooking area creating an abundant amount of specialized storage. An extra sink and open shelving in the beverage area makes for easy clean-ups after cocktails for two or an entire dinner party. The warm contrast of paint and stain finishes makes this cozy kitchen a space that will be the focal point of many happy gatherings. The two-tone cabinets feature Dura Supreme Cabinetry’s Carson Panel door style is a dark green “Rock Bottom” paint contrasted with the “Hazelnut” stained finish on Cherry.
