DOWNLOAD NOW This unit, located in a 4-flat owned by TKS Owners Jeff and Susan Klimala, was remodeled as their personal pied-à-terre, and doubles as an Airbnb property when they are not using it. Jeff and Susan were drawn to the location of the building, a vibrant Chicago neighborhood, 4 blocks from Wrigley Field, as well as to the vintage charm of the 1890’s building. The entire 2 bed, 2 bath unit was renovated and furnished, including the kitchen, with a specific Parisian vibe in mind. Although the location and vintage charm were all there, the building was not in ideal shape -- the mechanicals -- from HVAC, to electrical, plumbing, to needed structural updates, peeling plaster, out of level floors, the list was long. Susan and Jeff drew on their expertise to update the issues behind the walls while also preserving much of the original charm that attracted them to the building in the first place -- heart pine floors, vintage mouldings, pocket doors and transoms. Because this unit was going to be primarily used as an Airbnb, the Klimalas wanted to make it beautiful, maintain the character of the building, while also specifying materials that would last and wouldn’t break the budget. Susan enjoyed the hunt of specifying these items and still coming up with a cohesive creative space that feels a bit French in flavor. Parisian style décor is all about casual elegance and an eclectic mix of old and new. Susan had fun sourcing some more personal pieces of artwork for the space, creating a dramatic black, white and moody green color scheme for the kitchen and highlighting the living room with pieces to showcase the vintage fireplace and pocket doors. Два окна в основной комнате пропускают много света и открывают прекрасную панораму северной стороны города. Благодаря такой планировке появилась возможность избежать переноса стен и оставили все как есть. Небольшая площадь продиктовала особое внимание к эргономике квартиры. Кухня, гостиная и спальня представляют единое пространство, и чтобы усилить эффект цельности и органичности, было использовано одинаковое напольное покрытие для всего помещения квартиры. За счет вытянутой прямоугольной формы комнаты удалось добавить кухонный остров и вынести на него варочные панели и вытяжку, что позволило сделать небольшое пространство более функциональным. Photography: Karina Illovska The kitchen is divided into different colours to reduce its bulk and a surprise pink study inside it has its own little window. The front rooms were renovated to their former glory with replica plaster reinstated. A tasmanian Oak floor with a beautiful matt water based finish was selected by jess and its light and airy. this unifies the old and new parts. Colour was used playfully. Jess came up with a diverse colour scheme that somehow works really well. The wallpaper in the hall is warm and luxurious. ​

The owners of this South Dublin period family home have relocated their kitchen to create a bright and bespoke new design – a total transformation from its predecessor. The bespoke 30mm solid wood cabinetry features stepped Shaker doors and solid oak internals. The cabinetry has been handpainted in Farrow & Ball French Grey, creating an elegant, calming space. The open shelving over the sink with the mirror finish is a key element of the design, which allows for the natural light to reflect around the room, giving views of the beautiful exposed brick feature from all angles. Aged brass handles complete the look.

For their new kitchen, our client chose a sleek induction hob by Neff and an integrated fridge freezer which works very well in the space, as it is quite compact in size. Our bespoke inset handle in burnished brass complements the Pompeian Ash paint colour (Little Greene), and combined with the limed oak floor, there is a sense calmness in this Shaker kitchen. The stainless steel sink is by Abode, whilst the tap is by Quooker.

We designed this inset handle shaker kitchen for a client in Fulham. This was part of a rear extension, and we just love how this kitchen turned out. The Pompeian Ash paint colour by Little Greene pairs well with the burnished brass handles, and the wood on the floor and other furniture adds a touch of warmth. There is a calm and serene feel to this kitchen.
