This lovely Thousand Oaks home was completely remodeled throughout. Spaces included in this project were the kitchen, four bathrooms, office, entertainment room and master suite. Custom walnut cabinetry was given a clear coat finish to allow the natural wood color to stand out and be admired. A North Albany family contacted us wanting to expand, update, and open up their Kitchen to the Family Room. The floor plan of this home actually had plenty of space but it wasn’t being well-utilized, with angled walls in the pantry and a corner kitchen and island layout. By removing the double-sided fireplace and built-in bookcases closing off the Family Room, removing the closed-off bar area, and re-imagining the awkward walk-in pantry and kitchen layout, our Designer, Sarah envisioned an expansive Kitchen footprint that connected all the key areas and significantly increased the amount of available storage and countertop space, making this Kitchen the perfect entertaining environment! Replacing the cherry cabinetry, black granite countertops, and dark hardwood floors with white shaker upper cabinets, dark green lower cabinets, light-colored hardwood flooing, and a new lighting design completely transformed the space from dark and compartmentalized, to bright and open. This Kitchen is full of brilliant custom pieces and organization cabinets, including a HIDDEN walk-in pantry (which is the family’s favorite)!

This vacation home in Park City, Utah was transformed from a dark rustic ski lodge to a contemporary light and airy home. Extensive space planning changes to the kitchen, great room, and master suite made for much better use of the space. The materials selected, such as wood, stone, and painted brick, make the home feel like it still belongs in Park City, but now in a much more sophisticated way. Bilotta senior designer, Paula Greer, teamed up with architect, Robin Zahn to design this large gourmet kitchen for a family that does a lot of entertaining and cooking. While the wife was the decision maker for the overall aesthetics, the functionality of the space was driven by the husband, the aspiring chef. He had specific requests on how he wanted his “work area” set up. The team designed a cooking area featuring a 48” range across from a prep sink surrounded by 10 feet of work space. All the cooking essentials are at arm’s length – spice pull-out; interior knife block; baskets for root vegetables; cooking utensil drawers; and even a stainless-steel shelf above the range to keep plates warm before serving. Further down, away from the “chef”, is the “clean-up” area with a larger sink and the dishwasher. The microwave and the refrigerators/freezers are also at this opposite end, keeping the rest of the family out of his space when he’s cooking. This was his #1 request. The wet bar, just off of the kitchen, also houses a beverage unit and the coffee maker which keeps people out of the way during prep time. The kitchen was part of a larger addition which allowed them to incorporate the high ceiling, opening up the space to make room for the 6 feet worth of refrigeration and the large 10-foot island that works simultaneously for prep and eating. The Artistic Tile mosaic backsplash, where possible, starts at the countertop and continues all the way up to the molding at the ceiling emphasizing the height of the space, and the size of the room, even more.
