This project began with an entire penthouse floor of open raw space which the clients had the opportunity to section off the piece that suited them the best for their needs and desires. As the design firm on the space, LK Design was intricately involved in determining the borders of the space and the way the floor plan would be laid out. Taking advantage of the southwest corner of the floor, we were able to incorporate three large balconies, tremendous views, excellent light and a layout that was open and spacious. There is a large master suite with two large dressing rooms/closets, two additional bedrooms, one and a half additional bathrooms, an office space, hearth room and media room, as well as the large kitchen with oversized island, butler's pantry and large open living room. The clients are not traditional in their taste at all, but going completely modern with simple finishes and furnishings was not their style either. What was produced is a very contemporary space with a lot of visual excitement. Every room has its own distinct aura and yet the whole space flows seamlessly. From the arched cloud structure that floats over the dining room table to the cathedral type ceiling box over the kitchen island to the barrel ceiling in the master bedroom, LK Design created many features that are unique and help define each space. At the same time, the open living space is tied together with stone columns and built-in cabinetry which are repeated throughout that space. Comfort, luxury and beauty were the key factors in selecting furnishings for the clients. The goal was to provide furniture that complimented the space without fighting it.

Our client came to us for a major renovation of the old, small house on their property. 10 months later, a brand new 6550 square foot home boasting 6 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms, and a 25 foot vaulted ceiling was completed. The grand new home mixes traditional craftsman style with modern and transitional for a comfortable, inviting feel while still being expansive and very impressive. High-end finishes and extreme attention to detail make this home incredibly polished and absolutely beautiful. The kitchen features thick granite countertops, high-end Wolf appliances, classic subway tile, and pewter hardware. There is LED lighting undercabinet and toekick, including the island. The Gourmet Kitchen will impress with Penny Round Mother of Pearl tiles for the splashback, Caesarstone White Attica benchtops and Laminex Burnished Wood cupboards to really bring home that contemporary styling.

This house was 45 years old and the most recent kitchen update was past its due date. The idea was to refresh the space with a transitional design that leaned classic – something that would be elegant and comfortable. Something that would welcome and enhance natural light. The Microwave was moved from the wall to the island, and a Wolf warming drawer was added underneath as a new integrated feature in this remodel. The homeowners noted how often they use it and how wonderful the addition was to their space.

We were able to bring this Mid-Century Modern home into the 21st Century without robbing it of charm and character. It is a great example of how careful planning and design can include current amenities and conveniences that fit nicely with the nostalgic beauty of times past.

The tall, custom cabinet was inspired by old libraries. The range backsplash is handmade Moroccan tiles. Their uneven surface sparkles when the sunlight plays across them.

The kitchen features Espresso Omega Shaker Cabinets around the kitchen perimeter with White Quartz Counter Top and mosaic glass backsplash. The perimeter cabinets also have 4 accent cabinets with aluminum doors and clear glass to match the stainless steel refrigerator, dishwasher, wall oven and microwave. The island at the kitchen center is made of Blue Omega Shaker Cabinets with a beautiful Granite Azu lBahia Counter Top (Blue Granite).
