Situated at the top of the Eugene O'Neill National Historic Park in Danville, this mid-century modern hilltop home had great architectural features, but needed a kitchen update that spoke to the design style of the rest of the house. We would have to say this project was one of our most challenging when it came to blending the mid-century style of the house with a more eclectic and modern look that the clients were drawn to. But who doesn't love a good challenge? We removed the builder-grade cabinetry put in by a previous owner and took down a wall to open up the kitchen to the rest of the great room. The kitchen features a custom designed hood as well as custom cabinetry with an intricate beaded details that sets it apart from all of our other cabinetry designs. The pop of blue paired with the dark walnut creates an eye catching contrast. Ridgecrest also designed and fabricated solid steel wall cabinetry to store countertop appliances and display dishes and glasses. The copper accents on the range and faucets bring the design full circle and finish this gorgeous one-of-a-kind-kitchen off nicely.

HVAC company broke fire sprinkler lines in this beautiful McDowell Mountain ranch home and flooded most of the inside. We went in and completed a demo of all the damaged hardwood floors, cabinets, drywall, base boards, and crown moulding. We replaced the old with new in most areas, added some doors to the living room fireplace cabinetry, removed some built ins, and upgraded the multi types of wood floors for Reward Flooring hardwood floors.

This “before” Manhattan kitchen was featured in Traditional Home in 1992 having traditional cherry cabinets and polished-brass hardware. Twenty-three years later it was featured again, having been redesigned by Bilotta designer RitaLuisa Garces, this time as a less ornate space, a more streamlined, cleaner look that is popular today. Rita reconfigured the kitchen using the same space but with a more practical flow and added light. The new “after” kitchen features recessed panel Rutt Handcrafted Cabinetry in a blue finish with materials that have reflective qualities. These materials consist of glass mosaic tile backsplash from Artistic Tile, a Bridge faucet in polished nickel from Barber Wilsons & Co, Franke stainless-steel sink, porcelain floor tiles with a bronze glaze and polished blue granite countertops. When the kitchen was reconfigured they moved the eating niche and added a tinted mirror backsplash to reflect the light as well. The sink base features two full extension rollouts that handle trash and recyclables in the front and have divided storage for cleaning supplies in the back. No more getting on your hands and knees to access this cabinet. Idea found in Fine Homebuilding magazine. Small tilt drawer holds sponges. The raised panel, French blue cabinets are finished with a dark brown glazing. These are full overlay doors and drawers, constructed with high precision to maintain a 1/8” gap between every side of a door and drawer. PHOTO CREDIT: John Ray
