A scullery is like a mud room for a kitchen; sometimes we design these areas as a true working kitchen. This scullery functions as a pantry, storage area, baking counter and supplement to the butler's pantry. The new pantry is located where the old pantry was housed. The exisitng pantry contained standard wire shelves and bi-fold doors on a basic 18" deep closet. The homeowner wanted a place for deocorative storage, so without changing the footprint, we were able to create a more functional, more accessible and definitely more beautiful pantry! This kitchen was designed for a married couple who are gourmet cooks and wine enthusiasts. All of the appliances are Viking. There is a tall pantry cabinet and corner desk area at the far end. To the left of the cooktop, the wall was opened up to a serving counter with stools on the other side and a view to the living room. Gold granite tops mahogany cabinetry. The floor tile is porcelain, a weave of 12 x 24 tiles with a 6x6-inch tile accent. Both the floor and backsplash tiles are by Crossville. Photo by Harry Chamberlain

Whenever couples engage in the selection phase during the design process, there is always some give and take over style, taste, and design. Sometimes, as in this case, that is expressed in the form of constructive disagreements followed by clear non-defensive distinctions of what each really wants. Sometimes. We do our best to help with that negotiation of course. Remember, every remodel is a custom endeavor, so the challenge is always to balance needs and wants so everyone wins. Large kitchen (9' ceiling) with 10' x 5' window. Double oven, two dishwashers, 36" freezer, 36" refrigerator side-by-side; walk in pantry. Home office is accessible through 8' tall door on left; bar-b-que patio to the right of the photo.

This house was 45 years old and the most recent kitchen update was past its due date. It was also time to update an adjacent family room, eating area and a nearby bar. The idea was to refresh the space with a transitional design that leaned classic – something that would be elegant and comfortable. Something that would welcome and enhance natural light. The objectives were: -Keep things simple – classic, comfortable and easy to keep clean -Cohesive design between the kitchen, family room, eating area and bar The new bar area was reimagined to match the contrasting island dark wood finish to complement the spaces overall bright white feel. They stayed consistent with the counter being a dark wood top as well, which allows the eye to be drawn to the neutral colored subway tile, and the glass front cabinets that showcase drink ware. They also omitted the sink in this that was not being used for extra counter space. They dedicate this space for relaxing evenings with wine and friends.

This Rev-A-Shelf Blind Corner Pullout is our favorite option for a blind corner cabinet. It is well made, glides open luxuriously and provides the maximum storage space to your blind corner cabinet. Step 1: The door swings open and the back corner portion glides out gracefully. Step 2: The back section is actually two drawers with soft gliding runners. The Holloway blends the recent revival of mid-century aesthetics with the timelessness of a country farmhouse. Each façade features playfully arranged windows tucked under steeply pitched gables. Natural wood lapped siding emphasizes this homes more modern elements, while classic white board & batten covers the core of this house. A rustic stone water table wraps around the base and contours down into the rear view-out terrace. Inside, a wide hallway connects the foyer to the den and living spaces through smooth case-less openings. Featuring a grey stone fireplace, tall windows, and vaulted wood ceiling, the living room bridges between the kitchen and den. The kitchen picks up some mid-century through the use of flat-faced upper and lower cabinets with chrome pulls. Richly toned wood chairs and table cap off the dining room, which is surrounded by windows on three sides. The grand staircase, to the left, is viewable from the outside through a set of giant casement windows on the upper landing. A spacious master suite is situated off of this upper landing. Featuring separate closets, a tiled bath with tub and shower, this suite has a perfect view out to the rear yard through the bedroom's rear windows. All the way upstairs, and to the right of the staircase, is four separate bedrooms. Downstairs, under the master suite, is a gymnasium. This gymnasium is connected to the outdoors through an overhead door and is perfect for athletic activities or storing a boat during cold months.
