Specially engineered walnut timber doors were used to add warmth and character to this sleek slate handle-less kitchen design. The perfect balance of simplicity and luxury was achieved by using neutral but tactile finishes such as concrete effect, large format porcelain tiles for the floor and splashback, onyx tile worktop and minimally designed frameless cupboards, with accents of brass and solid walnut breakfast bar/dining table with a live edge.

This style is all about raw textural beauty at its diverse best! Exposed beams unveil raised ceiling heights without effecting the structural integrity of the space. The floating gas pipe shelves are a great way of bringing industrial beauty to the kitchen while expanding the available shelf space! Apron front sink adds a layer of depth, functionality and design. White subway tile allows for clean lines and butcher block countertops draws all the raw elements together. A lovingly cared for mid-century home was very original, but not functional or with modern appliances. With a nod to the bones and heritage of the home, the new kitchen was designed with a retro feel. The pantry and fridge were relocated but the original footprint largely adhered too. The raked ceilings are original but the original kitchen was entirely removed. A servery window was added to easily access the al fresco area. The combination of black and wood grain cabinets with white countertops were designed for modern function, but copper door handles and smoke glass splashback add a retro feel.

An 1800’s carriage house sets the stage for this classic kitchen remodel. The homeowners wanted to be true to the architecture of their home while incorporating top quality, cutting edge appliances and modern day conveniences. They are discerning cooks who entertain often. The original kitchen, done in the 1990’s, had built-out walls covering the original stone of the house. Once exposed and repointed, the stone served as an amazing backsplash in the space, and we were able to gain almost 12” in the width of the room! The fabulous matte black BlueStar range is topped off with a unique antique fireback and is complimented by hand-pegged, hand-planed custom cabinetry that are scribed to the stone walls with precision. The distressed soapstone counters bring warmth to the space that makes you want to cozy up and stay a while. Since the kitchen does not allow for an island, the unused dining room was turned into a combined bar area and butler’s pantry. This small room packs a lot in with antique heart pine countertops, beadboard backsplash, and cabinetry backs, which provide a warm, casual feel. An additional refrigerator and dishwasher, as well as an icemaker, all hidden behind cabinetry panels, provide everything they need, and more, for entertaining family and friends. The kitchen and dining room are opened up into an open and warm gathering space. The island/peninsula maximizes space and function by housing the sink and dishwasher on one side while providing a breakfast bar on the other.

Grain patterns from the harwood flooring are a fantastic layer of texture to this space. Butcher blcok countertops are not only beautiful but are durable and functional. This kitchen shows just how much styles can be mixed within the same room: a Matt Black Kuhlmann kitchen has handle-less base units, which has then been mixed with copper feature handles on the tall units. Original oak beams, a solid wood floor and copper accents in the sink and tap add to the warm feel of the room. The customer also specified a custom breakfast bar and matching table, which have been skimmed in micro cement by Relentless Interiors.
