Coronado, CA The Alameda Residence is situated on a relatively large, yet unusually shaped lot for the beachside community of Coronado, California. The orientation of the “L” shaped main home and linear shaped guest house and covered patio create a large, open courtyard central to the plan. The majority of the spaces in the home are designed to engage the courtyard, lending a sense of openness and light to the home. The aesthetics take inspiration from the simple, clean lines of a traditional “A-frame” barn, intermixed with sleek, minimal detailing that gives the home a contemporary flair. The interior and exterior materials and colors reflect the bright, vibrant hues and textures of the seaside locale.

Quartzite counter-tops in two different colors, green and tan/beige. Cabinets are a mix of flat panel and shaker style. Flooring is a walnut hardwood. Design of the space is a transitional/modern style.

A grey-blue painted open floor plan home that incorporates a feminine touch is what makes this space transitional. The Carrara marble backsplash and Kashmir White granite are classic choices for a classy kitchen.

This open and airy kitchen is bold and beautiful! The brilliant white island and Rochon custom flat panel custom cabinets pops against the black countertops and backsplash. Also, as an accent black flat panel Rochon custom cabinets were selected. Rochon also made custom floating shelves. There is a wine refrigerator in the island.

The flooring throughout the kitchen and main living area of this home is mango wood imported from Hawaii. The kitchen countertops are unique, made from one-of-a-kind, custom, multi-colored geodes imported from Israel. The kitchen backsplashes are caribbean blue iridescent tiles. The kitchen is the heart of the home. The table coming off the island provides a place for the family to gather and enjoy meals together. We used Carrara marble on the island, countertop and table. 12x12 Carrara tiles were cut to 4x12 and laid in a brick joint pattern for the backsplash and back wall. We carried the tile to the ceiling, so there was no visual break and to extend the eye gaze upward. Jenny Slade Photography.

The white walls of the kitchen give it a sleek, sanitised feel, while the colourful chairs and yellow bricks on the counter side liven-up the area.
