Granite matched with American Oak Solid Timber Frames and Condari Seneca cylindrical Rangehoods with Dulux Black Matt in surrounding cabinetry. With Four functional preparation areas. Base cupboards have Aluminium Luxe Finger recess handles whilst overheads were fingerpull overhang to fit the industrial brief and slimline look.

This kitchen features black cabinetry that is highlighted with white backspash tiles and a white stone countertop. Brass tap and leavers match the brass in the island light sconces.

Custom cabinets and timeless furnishings create this striking mountain modern kitchen. Stainless appliances with black accent details and modern lighting fixtures contrast with the distressed cabinet finish and wood flooring. Creating a space that is at once comfortable and modern.

This house west of Boston was originally designed in 1958 by the great New England modernist, Henry Hoover. He built his own modern home in Lincoln in 1937, the year before the German émigré Walter Gropius built his own world famous house only a few miles away. By the time this 1958 house was built, Hoover had matured as an architect; sensitively adapting the house to the land and incorporating the clients wish to recreate the indoor-outdoor vibe of their previous home in Hawaii. The house is beautifully nestled into its site. The slope of the roof perfectly matches the natural slope of the land. The levels of the house delicately step down the hill avoiding the granite ledge below. The entry stairs also follow the natural grade to an entry hall that is on a mid level between the upper main public rooms and bedrooms below. The living spaces feature a south- facing shed roof that brings the sun deep in to the home. Collaborating closely with the homeowner and general contractor, we freshened up the house by adding radiant heat under the new purple/green natural cleft slate floor. This galley kitchen makes great use of a small kitchen/dining space in a studio rental unit. The kitchen includes a 24" range, an over-the-range microwave vent hood, and an 18" dishwasher. There is also room for a refrigerator and a stacked washer/dryer unit.

Winner, 2014 ASID Design Excellence Award in Residential Design. A Tiffany-box blue glass backsplash in the kitchen reiterates a color found elsewhere in the home. The undulating Logico ceiling fixture adds a fun set of organic curves. To create a fully integrated appearance, walnut is used on the cabinetry, the refrigerator and other appliances. Bay Area Custom Cabinetry: wine bar sideboard in family room connects to galley kitchen. This custom cabinetry built-in has two wind refrigerators installed side-by-side, one having a hinged door on the right side and the other on the left. The countertop is made of seafoam green granite and the backsplash is natural slate. These custom cabinets were made in our own award-winning artisanal cabinet studio. Given that the social aspect of the kitchen was so important, an ‘L’ shaped bar seating area in natural walnut veneer was incorporated at the garden end of the island to a) maximise natural light and views of the garden and b) to be used as a staging area for the summer months when eating/socialising outside. The walnut bar both references the tall cabinet material, and provides a warm, tactile surface for sitting at as well as differentiating kitchen workspace with social space. Darren Chung
