This vacation home in Park City, Utah was transformed from a dark rustic ski lodge to a contemporary light and airy home. Extensive space planning changes to the kitchen, great room, and master suite made for much better use of the space. This creative transitional space was transformed from a very dated layout that did not function well for our homeowners - who enjoy cooking for both their family and friends. They found themselves cooking on a 30" by 36" tiny island in an area that had much more potential. A completely new floor plan was in order. An unnecessary hallway was removed to create additional space and a new traffic pattern. New doorways were created for access from the garage and to the laundry. Just a couple of highlights in this all Thermador appliance professional kitchen are the 10 ft island with two dishwashers (also note the heated tile area on the functional side of the island), double floor to ceiling pull-out pantries flanking the refrigerator, stylish soffited area at the range complete with burnished steel, niches and shelving for storage. A combination of pure white and charcoal gray cabinets provides dramatic contrast in this kitchen. Brushed gold fixtures and statement brass pulls add warmth and sophistication. The distinctive quartzite counters are a showstopper, with unique veining and striking color variation, from blue to gray to ochre. The shimmering blue-gray backsplash unites the entire space. The overall goal was to create an expansive entertaining kitchen that could accommodate our clients’ large gatherings of family and friends, and provide them with several zones for prepping, serving, seating, and socializing. The larger island allows for comfortable seating at the counter with plenty of room for a table in the breakfast nook. An expandable bar height table in the adjacent dining area offers even more flexibility for eating and socializing. We replaced a small pantry closet with a built-in, furniture style pantry taking advantage of every inch of storage space.

Clean, modern kitchen with Hudson Valley "Glendale' pendant lights, stainless Thermador appliances and sleek quartz countertops. Inset cabinets, Sherwin Williams "Iron Ore" paint on the island, and a marble tile backsplash in a brick pattern.

We removed three walls to open this kitchen up to the great room and breakfast area so the family and guests could visit while meals are being prepared. The custom cabinetry, designed by Bay Area Kitchens, was meticulously hand crafted to our exact specifications by Wood-Mode Custom Cabinetry in Kreamer, PA. A medium gray stain was applied to the solid walnut 1" thick doors and drawer fronts. The cabinets were designed and accessorized to maximize storage space and convenient access, including various sizes and depths of drawers, pull-out racks, tray dividers and a heavy-duty mixer base. The built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator, combination convection steam oven and single convection oven, 48" rangetop with six dual burners plus a flat-top griddle, and microwave drawer are the heart of this true gourmet kitchen. Appropriate appliances are Wi-Fi connected for maximum convenience. Topping off the custom cabinetry are Cambria quartz countertops, plus two solid walnut countertops with "live" edges by Grothouse. We also installed an automated LED lighting system including cabinet interior lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and LED recessed cans, all controlled by Lutron's RadioRA wireless lighting control system. All the lighting can be controlled by any of the five wall panels, or by an iPhone or iPad. The cabinets are also equipped with an integrated stereo sound system completely concealed within the cabinets. Ahhhhh a 48" Thermador Pro Grand Dual Fuel Range with 6 burners and a griddle top......but wait....where is the range hood?? No need to fear, Zephyr is here!! Placing the range in front of a window was a unique and very nice setup, however that meant that there is no way to have a traditional range hood like most people are used to seeing. The solution is a flush mount range hood, the Zephyr Lux ( https://zephyronline.com/product/lux-island-range-hood/). It functions just as any range hood would and is wirelessly controlled with a remote control. It even features an LED light to illuminate your cooktop. Having a range in front of a window is possible, and all of us at Pike think it looks amazing! Statuario Marble: We supplied and fabricated the Luxurious Statuario marble surfaces in this custom crafted kitchen in Co Kildare by Shalford Interiors. With the statement splashback and 50mm pencil edge island surface in distinctly veined Statuario marble, the run of countertops has been finished in a more pared back Silestone Ariel finish with 30mm pencil edge profile.
