For this vacation home, a complete gut job was needed in order to fit the lifestyle and needs of this young family of four and their guests. The narrow floor plan created unique challenges, but we maximized its full potential. The result was a warm but modern design with plenty of storage and seating. One of the biggest challenges was making sure everyone had a place to sit in the kitchen. The space between the kitchen and staircase was limiting, but with sleek modern chairs that tuck away, we were able to allow for traffic patterns and seat all of the children. To accommodate any vacation extras, an extra wide space near the kitchen and bathroom was transformed into additional shelving. We installed floor-to-ceiling cabinets that offer plenty of space for everyone’s belongings. A clean design was a must, so we opted for a more modern look. We used Benjamin Moore's "Simply White" as the foundation, putting it on the walls and cabinets, and coordinating the countertops and backsplash. To make the home more welcoming, we used natural wood on the island and floating shelves. The wood was coordinated with the floor, creating a cohesive interior. Comment redonner une nouvelle jeunesse à sa cuisine ? Voilà le nouveau défi réalisé avec cette cuisine datant des années 80. Les propriétaires désiraient préserver le charme de leur cuisine en chêne très bien conservée. Ils avaient besoin d’être orientés dans le choix des couleurs pour un relooking harmonieux. Ils souhaitaient également intégrer un meuble de famille en guise d’îlot central. Dans le but d’alléger la cuisine, deux couleurs ont été proposées pour les meubles, un bleu canard pour le bas et un bleu azur pour le haut. Le lambris a été peint dans une teinte bleu ciel. Le plan de travail a été réalisé en stratifié bois chêne naturel comme le sol du salon. Un travail a été effectué pour conserver une circulation fluide dans la cuisine et certains rangements ont été modernisés. Concernant le carrelage, leur choix s’est porté sur un sol imitation terrazzo qui marque actuellement un grand retour dans nos intérieurs avec l’envie d’authenticité et de matières brutes. Dans la continuité de la cuisine, les murs et plafonds de la salle à manger et du salon ont été entièrement refaits. Les lambris ont été peints en bleu ciel et les poutres apparentes du salon en couleur lin.

Because of the 2 windows and a door, we couldn’t put cabinets there without it looking weird. The homeowners needed storage but didn’t want to lose light, so we came up with this open shelving plan. Also, adding historic elements like the antique gold lights over the windows and the subway tile paid just the right homage to the home.

An interior remodel of a 1940’s French Eclectic home includes a new kitchen, breakfast, laundry, and three bathrooms featuring new cabinetry, fixtures, and patterned encaustic tile floors. Complementary in detail and substance to elements original to the house, these spaces are also highly practical and easily maintained, accommodating heavy use by our clients, their kids, and frequent guests. Other rooms, with somewhat “well-loved” woodwork, floors, and plaster are rejuvenated with deeply tinted custom finishes, allowing formality and function to coexist. From traditional to shaker style cabinets, new dove white quartz counter-tops and beveled gray to ceiling back splash with snow white grout for contrast. Hidden trash and spice rack pullouts with functional Lazy Susan for hard to reach corner and dual side access storage island with waterfall quartz counter-top and electrical outlets. Rounded pantry shelves for easier access to high to reach areas. Farmhouse sink with large under storage drawer with appearance of dual door cabinet to maximize cleaning supply accessibility and cleanliness. Extended refrigerator cabinet with shaker end panels and upper storage beside a mini dry-bar area with glass upper cabinet doors to showcase glassware. Stainless steel hood between finished shaker end panel upper cabinets. Three size black modern pulls for drawers and doors to match our client's taste. Finished with a lighter tone of paint to contrast the kitchen/dining area from the living space and finally upgraded the old chandelier to a modern sputnik style light fixture.

Projet de rénovation d'un appartement ancien. Etude de volumes en lui donnant une nouvelle fonctionnalité à chaque pièce. Des espaces ouverts, conviviaux et lumineux. Des couleurs claires avec des touches bleu nuit, la chaleur du parquet en chêne et le métal de la verrière en harmonie se marient avec les tissus et couleurs du mobilier.
