A couple with two young children appointed FPA to refurbish a large semi detached Victorian house in Wimbledon Park. The property, arranged on four split levels, had already been extended in 2007 by the previous owners. The clients only wished to have the interiors updated to create a contemporary family room. However, FPA interpreted the brief as an opportunity also to refine the appearance of the existing side extension overlooking the patio and devise a new external family room, framed by red cedar clap boards, laid to suggest a chevron floor pattern. The refurbishment of the interior creates an internal contemporary family room at the lower ground floor by employing a simple, yet elegant, selection of materials as the instrument to redirect the focus of the house towards the patio and the garden: light coloured European Oak floor is paired with natural Oak and white lacquered panelling and Lava Stone to produce a calming and serene space. A two-level island with an undermount stainless sink creates a simple, understated separation between the kitchen and dining areas in this modern lodge luxury home.

This Asian inspired open plan kitchen brings the outdoors in by incorporating multiple layers of colors, textures and surfaces into the design. Alison Griffin created this look with three cabinetry colors (slivered almond opaque finish, cherry dark lager finish and foundry medium greyed taupe finish), three surface textures (smooth, rough sawn and rough hewn) and three countertop materials (Peruvian Walnut end grain butcher block, Taj Mahal Quartzite, and Nacarado Quartzite). For all of the complexity of this design, its overall effect is a calm and engaging contemporary kitchen.

This open kitchen features custom designed/built light wood cabinets with beaded door inset patterning. Marble slab porcelain counters and backsplash add texture and colour to the space while offering an extremely durable surface. Stunning cast glass pendant lights illuminate the large island.

Full custom, contemporary, fully integrated, and push-to-open cabinetry was outfitted for this new kitchen in this beautiful colonial home. The earthy tones and materials used are a nice way to tie the traditional aspects of the home into the kitchen, with the client having such modern taste. The perimeter uppers are walnut, grain matched, while the lowers and island are a painted matte finish. The whole space has no hardware, with push to open fridge, and ovens and a knock to open dishwasher. Under cabinet lighting was integrated on the island for a floating glow and on the upper cabinets as well for utility lighting.
