This was a fun kitchen transformation to work on and one that was mainly about new finishes and new cabinetry. We kept almost all the major appliances where they were. We added beadboard, beams and new white oak floors for character.

With two teen daughters, a one bathroom house isn’t going to cut it. In order to keep the peace, our clients tore down an existing house in Richmond, BC to build a dream home suitable for a growing family. The plan. To keep the business on the main floor, complete with gym and media room, and have the bedrooms on the upper floor to retreat to for moments of tranquility. Designed in an Arts and Crafts manner, the home’s facade and interior impeccably flow together. Most of the rooms have craftsman style custom millwork designed for continuity. The highlight of the main floor is the dining room with a ridge skylight where ship-lap and exposed beams are used as finishing touches. Large windows were installed throughout to maximize light and two covered outdoor patios built for extra square footage. The kitchen overlooks the great room and comes with a separate wok kitchen. You can never have too many kitchens! The upper floor was designed with a Jack and Jill bathroom for the girls and a fourth bedroom with en-suite for one of them to move to when the need presents itself. Mom and dad thought things through and kept their master bedroom and en-suite on the opposite side of the floor. With such a well thought out floor plan, this home is sure to please for years to come.

Auch im ehemaligen Wohnzimmer wurden die alten Dielenböden freigelegt. Hier befindet sich nun die neue Küche. Neue Elektrik und Heizkörper, sowie Fenster mit elektrischen Rollläden installiert. Die Küche besticht durch einen modernen Landhausstil. Die Fliesen im Fliesenspiegel wurden im Flur nochmals mit aufgegriffen, so dass hier ein ganzheitliches Bild entstanden ist. Eine rustikale, mobile Kücheninsel wird dem Layout noch hinzugefügt. Weitere Bilder folgen nach kompletter Fertigstellung, da hier noch Malerarbeiten zu leisten sind und die Installation der Lampen aussteht.

Our Austin studio decided to go bold with this project by ensuring that each space had a unique identity in the Mid-Century Modern style bathroom, butler's pantry, and mudroom. We covered the bathroom walls and flooring with stylish beige and yellow tile that was cleverly installed to look like two different patterns. The mint cabinet and pink vanity reflect the mid-century color palette. The stylish knobs and fittings add an extra splash of fun to the bathroom. The butler's pantry is located right behind the kitchen and serves multiple functions like storage, a study area, and a bar. We went with a moody blue color for the cabinets and included a raw wood open shelf to give depth and warmth to the space. We went with some gorgeous artistic tiles that create a bold, intriguing look in the space. In the mudroom, we used siding materials to create a shiplap effect to create warmth and texture – a homage to the classic Mid-Century Modern design. We used the same blue from the butler's pantry to create a cohesive effect. A pop of blue was used for the island as well as a patterned back splash to give some visual interest. Glass cabinets flank the built in hood fan providing the perfect place to display cherished treasures.

The previous semi-enclosed kitchen is fully open to the dining and living area, while still clearly defined with a dropped ceiling. The large island provides a central hub for the family’s daily life and special gatherings.
