The home had gone through an extensive renovation several years earlier that added a master bedroom suite and updates to the front façade. The kitchen however was not part of that update and a prior 1990’s update had left much to be desired. The client is an avid cook, and it was just not very functional for the family. The original kitchen was very choppy and included a large eat in area that took up more than its fair share of the space. On the wish list was a place where the family could comfortably congregate, that was easy and to cook in, that feels lived in and in check with the rest of the home’s décor. They also wanted a space that was not cluttered and dark – a happy, light and airy room. A small powder room off the space also needed some attention so we set out to include that in the remodel as well. See that arch in the neighboring dining room? The homeowner really wanted to make the opening to the dining room an arch to match, so we incorporated that into the design. Another unfortunate eyesore was the state of the ceiling and soffits. Turns out it was just a series of shortcuts from the prior renovation, and we were surprised and delighted that we were easily able to flatten out almost the entire ceiling with a couple of little reworks. Other changes we made were to add new windows that were appropriate to the new design, which included moving the sink window over slightly to give the work zone more breathing room. We also adjusted the height of the windows in what was previously the eat-in area that were too low for a countertop to work. We tried to keep an old island in the plan since it was a well-loved vintage find, but the tradeoff for the function of the new island was not worth it in the end. We hope the old found a new home, perhaps as a potting table. Our personalized kitchen designs ensure your taste and style are truly reflected. This coastal inspired remodel features shaker style built-in cabinetry and natural stone counters. Porcelain wave-look tile surrounds all the exposed walls in this kitchen while custom depth cabinetry allows for a "must have" island. This remodel accomplished all their goals for a bright new space, seaside vibes and ample seating for the whole family.

This custom chef’s kitchen designed by Cutis Lumber Co, Inc. is designed for entertaining. A dramatic twist on the modern farmhouse style, the look was achieved by contrasting black and white with accents of gold. It features: a 12-foot long black leathered granite serving island with spectacular gold pendants, a floating cooking island with a professional range and floating contemporary hood above, as well as a mirrored front refrigerator panel that disappears into the spacious white cabinets and a built-in coffee and beverage station. The white glossy tiled wall holds black oak floating shelves. The custom cabinetry is by Crystal Cabinet Works, Regent door style; perimeter in Designer White, island in Black Red Oak. We wanted to bring in the natural light and were influenced by the Scandinavian style, which includes functionality, simplicity, and craftsmanship. The contrast of the natural wood and dark cabinets boasts an elevated and unique design, which immediately catches your eye walking into this beautiful single-family home.

A newly developed beautiful Roslyn home features a large transitional kitchen. The space showcases a two-tone concept with a large dark wood island elegantly dancing with surrounding white cabinetry. The transitional style makes the space feel rustic and traditional, but still has modern touches and accents. The custom Plato Woodwork cabinetry offers storage and space while also being compact and clean. The molding throughout and small square cabinetry glass panes reflect craftsmanship and attention to detail. To ensure functionality and accessibility, Wolf & Subzero appliances compliment the large space making it a perfect area for cooking and entertaining.

Two years after completing the initial project, our clients asked us to return and give their dated kitchen a facelift. We gutted the large and unusually shaped kitchen and remodeled the space with new blue and white cabinetry, quartzite countertops and a white and gray mosaic tile on the backsplash. We replaced an old window with a large picture window and added a counter peninsula for a welcoming breakfast area. New Thermador appliances were installed and pendant lights over the counter area keep things feeling open and airy.

Featured here are Homecrest Cabinetry shaker style cabinets. We combined two grey toned shades, Maple Willow around the perimeter and Maple Anchor on the island. Quartz and Quartzite counters were paired in this kitchen along with stainless steel fixtures. Photo Credit: Julie Lehite
