The layout and feel of the old kitchen wasn't working for these homeowners. We transitioned this kitchen from traditional with awkward layout to a bright modern space with traditional touches. The island was squared up and got more counter seating. We moved the sink and range top for a better work triangle. The space now has better flow and storage with a built in pantry and larger cabinets. They also got display areas with a built in hutch. ADU (Accessory dwelling unit) became a major part of the family of project we have been building in the past 3 years since it became legal in Los Angeles. This is a typical conversion of a small style of a garage. (324sq only) into a fantastic guest unit / rental. A large kitchen and a roomy bathroom are a must to attract potential rentals. in this design you can see a relatively large L shape kitchen is possible due to the use a more compact appliances (24" fridge and 24" range) to give the space even more function a 24" undercounter washer/dryer was installed. Since the space itself is not large framing vaulted ceilings was a must, the high head room gives the sensation of space even in the smallest spaces. Notice the exposed beam finished in varnish and clear coat for the decorative craftsman touch. The bathroom flooring tile is continuing in the shower are as well so not to divide the space into two areas, the toilet is a wall mounted unit with a hidden flush tank thus freeing up much needed space.

The new kitchen features custom shaker cabinets, quartz calacatta Laza countertops and backspace and light hardwood floors (all from Spazio LA Tile Gallery), two custom walnut veneer with recessed strip lights, bronze finish fixtures, apron sink and lighting fixtures from Restoration Hardware.

This custom chef’s kitchen designed by Cutis Lumber Co, Inc. is designed for entertaining. A dramatic twist on the modern farmhouse style, the look was achieved by contrasting black and white with accents of gold. It features: a 12-foot long black leathered granite serving island with spectacular gold pendants, a floating cooking island with a professional range and floating contemporary hood above, as well as a mirrored front refrigerator panel that disappears into the spacious white cabinets and a built-in coffee and beverage station. The white glossy tiled wall holds black oak floating shelves. The custom cabinetry is by Crystal Cabinet Works, Regent door style; perimeter in Designer White, island in Black Red Oak. We said good-bye to an outdated 60's ranch home kitchen that was closed off and dark. By removing the wall between the kitchen and small eating area we were able to expand the footprint of the kitchen and create a large island with comfortable seating for four. The kitchen is now open to the living and dining room to create the open plan that works perfectly for our clients that love to entertain.

This 2 story home with a first floor Master Bedroom features a tumbled stone exterior with iron ore windows and modern tudor style accents. The Great Room features a wall of built-ins with antique glass cabinet doors that flank the fireplace and a coffered beamed ceiling. The adjacent Kitchen features a large walnut topped island which sets the tone for the gourmet kitchen. IDS (Interior Design Society) Designer of the Year - National Competition - 2nd Place award winning Kitchen ($30,000 & Under category) Photo by: Shawn St. Peter Photography - What designer could pass on the opportunity to buy a floating home like the one featured in the movie Sleepless in Seattle? Well, not this one! When I purchased this floating home from my aunt and uncle, I undertook a huge out-of-state remodel. Up for the challenge, I grabbed my water wings, sketchpad, & measuring tape. It was sink or swim for Patricia Lockwood to finish before the end of 2014. The big reveal for the finished houseboat on Sauvie Island will be in the summer of 2015 - so stay tuned.

This 3200 square foot home features a maintenance free exterior of LP Smartside, corrugated aluminum roofing, and native prairie landscaping. The design of the structure is intended to mimic the architectural lines of classic farm buildings. The outdoor living areas are as important to this home as the interior spaces; covered and exposed porches, field stone patios and an enclosed screen porch all offer expansive views of the surrounding meadow and tree line. The home’s interior combines rustic timbers and soaring spaces which would have traditionally been reserved for the barn and outbuildings, with classic finishes customarily found in the family homestead. Walls of windows and cathedral ceilings invite the outdoors in. Locally sourced reclaimed posts and beams, wide plank white oak flooring and a Door County fieldstone fireplace juxtapose with classic white cabinetry and millwork, tongue and groove wainscoting and a color palate of softened paint hues, tiles and fabrics to create a completely unique Door County homestead.
