This remodel was for a family that wanted a contemporary style kitchen with a mix of modern and traditional elements. To bring in the traditional, we installed hardwood flooring in grey and brown tones and Shaker style cabinets but updated them in a grey-brown color for the perimeter and a navy blue for the island. The cabinet hardware is a bronze color with a modern design-bar pulls instead of knobs for all cabinets and drawers. To emulate the color of the cabinet hardware, the island pendants are a bronze wire fixture in addition to the bronze brackets holding up the wine rack display. The countertops are a marble design quartz and the appliances are stainless steel. The backsplash on the stove wall is a contemporary linen-like tile installed in a chevron design and the coffee bar area is also a linen-like tile but in an abstract design. There is a walnut shelf above the quartz countertops to bring in some warmth and rustic elements to the area. For a more contemporary feel, we left the HVAC exposed but painted it white as well as the traditional wooden beams. Overall, the design team and the clients felt the kitchen lived up to their expectations and more of what a Contemporary design could be. Photos by Rick Young

The open kitchen is the heart of the apartment. The island maintains a soft role as the anchor of the area and flashes principles of purity and simplicity with its white Caesarstone countertop. The same countertop material is placed on the remaining counter space, and encounters an exquisite backsplash made of Carrara Herringbone. The backsplash climbs from countertop to the ceiling allowing it to blend well with nearby hues and material palettes. The living room liquor cabinet wraps around into the kitchen and greets the custom made pantry. The pantry not only offers more space for storage, but it also engages the child by allowing it to draw on the chalkboard material placed on the inside of the doors.

From a standard builder's grade kitchen to THIS. Basically the only thing that remained in place was the skylight! This house was purchased in 2018 by a local general contractor and his family. For three straight years, they've worked non stop to make this house their home. The foot print of the house, was blown up and out, and everywhere in between. Much like the kitchen, this house in now unrecognizable three years later. We were brought in to help make his wife's kitchen vision come to life. From her wish of an L shaped island with bar height seating, to a live edge walnut countertop they sourced themselves; This kitchen has a unique rustic charm you don't see in many Long Island homes. ? the two toned Kemper Emerge cabinet colors Cloud & Naval and the Cambria Portrush quartz countertop. Not to mention the Kraus workstation sink.
