Newlyweds had just moved into their new home and immediately wanted to update their kitchen which is located in the center of the household, lacking any natural light source of its own. To make matters worse, the cabinets in place were dark red with black countertops. Not the picture of brightness they were looking for. To increase the amount of light reflected throughout the kitchen, we incorporated some of the following updates: 1. Replaced the solo ceiling light with 4 recessed cans 2. Updated the florescent undercabinet lights with new LED strips 3. Installed custom white cabinets topped with Silestone’s new Artic Ocean white countertops 4. Updated the dark glass pendants over the bar with larger, clear glass pendants that spoke more to the history of the home 5. Painted the walls a soft gray to compliment the palette The original kitchen layout was updated to eliminate the existing soffits and open the visual feel of the space. A large white farm sink now centers the natural wood bar area, inviting guests to sit and gather for ballgames and celebrations. This masterfully designed kitchen is fit for entertaining every type of gathering from dinner parties to cocktail receptions. Plenty of natural light abound in the open-concept floor plan, seamlessly connecting the family room, morning room and kitchen. Tucked away behind the traditional kitchen, lies a professional catering kitchen and butler’s pantry fully loaded with a secondary set of stainless-steel appliances, wine refrigerator, separate ice maker, broom closet and a custom rolling ladder to access the abundance of storage. Shaker style cabinetry, swinging cafe doors to the caterer’s kitchen and intricate detail on the wooden vent hood set a tone for being on trend without being trendy. A chef’s dream, this kitchen has all the bells and whistles—like an oversized island, expansive side-by-side freezer and refrigerator, dual dishwashers to beverage center, slide out dog bowls, pop out steps to access upper cabinets, filtered water station, LED lighting and hidden outlets in the upper cabinets. This home has left nothing to be desired.

This kitchen remodel was designed by Astrid from our Windham showroom. This kitchen features Yorktowne Iconic Cabinets with maple wood, Dixon flat panel door style and White Icing Classic paint finish (Kitchen) and Harbor Mist sheer paint finish (Island). Other cabinetry featured in this kitchen includes a wood hood, double wall oven, wine cube and tall bookcase. It also features Hanstone Quartz countertop with Italian waves and standard edge. This flooring is Bella Cera hardwood floors with Valerio color from their Villa Borghese collection. The backplash is Anatolis soho 4”x16” subway tile style in warm gray. Other features include Blanco White Apron front sink and Delta pull down faucet Brushed Nickel.

Our Princeton Architects took what was previously a galley kitchen and transformed it into a lovely space with island seating, lots of counter space and new appliances. We enlarged the opening from the front hall into the kitchen, for better flow, and extended the kitchen out to meet the new mudroom addition, while also finding space for a relocated powder room. The new mudroom includes coat hooks for easy access, cubbies for the kids' shoes, as well as closed storage for stowing out-of-season items and sports equipment. The powder room is perfectly sized and tucked away between the kitchen and mudroom for last-minute stops.

Basement level kitchen with low ceilings and a tricky center column. The design directive was to maximize the layout, make the kitchen feel bright and inviting and appeal to families with a mixed design aesthetic. We opted to install custom millwork to use every inch of available space. A light, monochromatic color palette makes the space feel visually bigger. User friendly materials were selected throughout that would maintain their look for years to come. Under-cabinet lighting as well as recessed fixtures create a bright space without taking up precious space.

This project was an especially fun one for me and was the first of many with these amazing clients. The original space did not make sense with the homes style and definitely not with the homeowners personalities. So the goal was to brighten it up, make it into an entertaining kitchen as the main kitchen is in another of the house and make it feel like it was always supposed to be there. The space was slightly expanded giving a little more working space and allowing some room for the gorgeous Walnut bar top by Grothouse Lumber, which if you look closely resembles a shark,t he homeowner is an avid diver so this was fate. We continued with water tones in the wavy glass subway tile backsplash and fusion granite countertops, kept the custom WoodMode cabinet white with a slight distressing for some character and grounded the space a little with some darker elements found in the floating shelving and slate farmhouse sink. We also remodeled a pantry in the same style cabinetry and created a whole different feel by switching up the backsplash to a deeper blue. Being just off the main kitchen and close to outdoor entertaining it also needed to be functional and beautiful, wine storage and an ice maker were added to make entertaining a dream. Along with tons of storage to keep everything in its place. The before and afters are amazing and the new spaces fit perfectly within the home and with the homeowners.
