One of our clients' goals from the start was a "cozy kitchen" within a modern space. The kitchen is warmed exposed beam and wood stained beadboard ceiling. The floor is 6" white oak. Our clients looked for an antique island but found none that could support the custom marble top. Ultimately this was a commissioned custom piece. The kitchen also features double ovens, floating open shelving, and three types of lighting features: recessed, track lighting, and drop pendants.

A brightened space with reflective surfaces that enhance the natural light in the room. High gloss metallic finish on the cabinetry creates a contemporary aesthetic paired with custom painted glass doors. Repurposed light fixtures twinkle above the kitchen island, and wood slab doors add warmth and anchor the space with the flooring. As a final touch, custom concrete sinks were stained to match the cabinets, and a custom tile niche was created for the homeowner’s sculpture display.

Open shelving and plenty of storage with a few glass panel cabinets is the key to this open, bright kitchen while the wood counter tops add warmth and timelessness to this space. The built-in desk area was once was occupied by hutch with little light. A display of teapots and a custom walnut counter created a practical display and work surface, and the color makes it pop!

A challenging heritage home renovation in a mature established Edmonton neighbourhood. We kept as much of the original charm and character details as possible while updating this old home. All the original doors and door knobs were refinished, the exposed fireplace and kitchen skylight were renovated, and the tin ceiling in the parlor was fully restored. The star of the renovation is the pressed quartz countertop in the kitchen. This beautiful translucent material transmits light and makes the most of a small kitchen footprint.
