What comes to mind when you envision the perfect multi-faceted living spaces? Is it an expansive amount of counter space at which to cook, work, or entertain freely? Abundant and practical cabinet organization to keep clutter at bay and the space looking beautiful? Or perhaps the answer is all of the above, along with a cosy spot to retreat after the long day is complete. The project we are sharing with you here has each of these elements in spades: spaces that combine beauty with function, promote comfort and relaxation, and make time at home enjoyable for this active family of three. Our main focus was to remodel the kitchen, where we hoped to create a functional layout for everyday use. Our clients also hoped to incorporate a home office right into the kitchen itself. However, the clients realized that renovation the kitchen alone wouldn’t create the full transformation they were looking for. Kitchens interact intimately with their adjacent spaces, especially family rooms, and we were determined to elevate their daily living experience from top to bottom. We redesigned the kitchen and living area to increase work surfaces and storage solutions, create comfortable and luxurious spaces to unwind, and update the overall aesthetic to fit their more modern, collected taste. This homeowner loved her home and location, but it needed updating and a more efficient use of the condensed space she had for her kitchen. We were creative in opening the kitchen and a small eat-in area to create a more open kitchen for multiple cooks to work together. We created a coffee station/serving area with floating shelves, and in order to preserve the existing windows, we stepped a base cabinet down to maintain adequate counter prep space. With custom cabinetry reminiscent of the era of this home and a glass tile back splash she loved, we were able to give her the kitchen of her dreams in a home she already loved. We attended a holiday cookie party at her home upon completion, and were able to experience firsthand, multiple cooks in the kitchen and hear the oohs and ahhs from family and friends about the amazing transformation of her spaces.

Minimalist and clean design in the highly functional kitchen. The cooking appliances including a double-oven, below-counter speed oven, and induction range are surrounded by countertops to allow for excellent cooking efficiency. An in-counter compost bin lid helps for quick clean up, while all of the trash, compost, and recycling are kept in the same pull-out drawer to keep them out of sight. The kitchen was designed to take advantage of existing frosted windows which supplement the overhead and under-cabinet lighting, illuminating the working surface from all angles.

This Lansing, MI kitchen design features Diamond Vibe by MasterBrand raised panel kitchen cabinets in a warm wood finish with raised panel doors, complemented by the Homecrest luxury vinyl tile flooring. The cabinetry is accented by Richelieu hardware and an MSI engineered quartz countertop. An Elkay double bowl stainless undermount sink pairs perfectly with a single lever pull down sprayer faucet. The glass mosaic tile backsplash offers a striking backdrop for this design. The kitchen also includes a GE oven and GE built in microwave range hood combination.

This kitchen in Kensington, MD was refaced with cherry wood and enriched with new conveniences including a lazy susan, wine rack, tip out tray and trash can pullout. The shaker style doors blend contemporary style with the warmth of cherry. The clean lines of the design, tiles and hardware highlight the color and grain of the cherry cabinet doors.

The clients love to entertain large parties (50-200 ppl). Existing architecture did not allow for proper circulation to do so. We changed multiple access points to the space. We added a door from the garage breezeway, closed off access to the laundry, removed a door to the foyer and widened the entryway.
