This kitchen as dated and ugly. I tend to not use strong words for any space, but there is no other way to describe the befores of this space. I cleaned it all up to start with while seeing some of the bones I wanted to use. I added a massive new island, making room for a wine fridge and a microwave. I created a new ceiling plan with recessed lighting and while it was tempting to do island pendants, my vision was to keep the view unobstructed. Here we get a view of the entry foyer beyond the kitchen with new custom doors.

Opposite stunning views of the Portland, Oregon skyline, a large open kitchen features a custom quartz range hood with matching backsplash, handsome steel blue cabinets, wood and brass hardware, hardwood flooring, and high-end stainless steel appliances.

An open concept was among the priorities for the renovation of this split-level St Lambert home. The interiors were stripped, walls removed and windows condemned. The new floor plan created generous sized living spaces that are complemented by low profile and minimal furnishings. The kitchen is a bold statement featuring deep navy matte cabinetry and soft grey quartz counters. The 14’ island was designed to resemble a piece of furniture and is the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee or entertain large gatherings. Practical storage needs are accommodated in full height towers with flat panel doors. The modern design of the solarium creates a panoramic view to the lower patio and swimming pool. The challenge to incorporate storage in the adjacent living room was solved by juxtaposing the dramatic dark kitchen millwork with white built-ins and open wood shelving. The tiny 25sf master ensuite includes a custom quartz vanity with an integrated double sink. Neutral and organic materials maintain a pure and calm atmosphere.

This Woodways contemporary kitchen utilizes a mix of materials to add depth and warmth to the space. The high contrast between the dark cabinetry and bright white backsplash and counter draw emphasis to this area. Undercabinet lighting is added for better visibility when using this space for tasks.

“Domestic bliss” is how one client described our design. Apparently, thoughtful design can double as therapy. This urban loft transformation did it for them.

The kitchen boasts handleless units in deep navy that not only contribute to the sleek and seamless design but also emphasise the clean lines characteristic of contemporary style. The backsplash, extending all the way to the ceiling, is covered with Dekton cladding, creating a statement wall that marries durability with aesthetic appeal. The island is adorned with dark wood slats that add a touch of warmth and texture, creating a dynamic visual contrast against the surrounding contemporary elements. The waterfall quartz on the island enhances the visual appeal and linear effect. Elevating kitchen's visual interest and functionality, bespoke open brass and glass shelving is strategically placed, offering a stylish showcase for curated culinary essentials and decorative items. The brass elements introduce a touch of opulence, creating a harmonious balance with the dark wood and sleek surfaces. Underfoot, the kitchen features limestone flooring that not only adds a timeless touch but also provides a durable and easy-to-maintain surface suitable for high-traffic areas. The neutral tones of the limestone contribute to an overall sense of understated luxury. The carefully curated colour palette of navy and taupe enhances the kitchen's sophistication, creating a timeless and welcoming atmosphere. Modern linear light fittings in brass adorn the kitchen, not only providing essential task lighting but also serving as striking design elements. These fixtures add a touch of contemporary flair and illuminate the culinary workspace with a warm and inviting glow.
