The decision to either renovate the upper and lower units of a duplex or convert them into a single-family home was a no-brainer. Situated on a quiet street in Montreal, the home was the childhood residence of the homeowner, where many memories were made and relationships formed within the neighbourhood. The prospect of living elsewhere wasn’t an option. A complete overhaul included the re-configuration of three levels to accommodate the dynamic lifestyle of the empty nesters. The potential to create a luminous volume was evident from the onset. With the home backing onto a park, westerly views were exploited by oversized windows and doors. A massive window in the stairwell allows morning sunlight to filter in and create stunning reflections in the open concept living area below. The staircase is an architectural statement combining two styles of steps, with the extended width of the lower staircase creating a destination to read, while making use of an otherwise awkward space. White oak dominates the entire home to create a cohesive and natural context. Clean lines, minimal furnishings and white walls allow the small space to breathe.

Small yet fully functional appliances and plenty of storage space provide this ADU plenty of space for cooking and enjoying every meal

This Regency waterfront apartment is a dramatic foil for this project. The kitchen space is centrally located in the core of the building with a small window looking out onto a lightwell. Organising the workflow with the client during the design process really answered any questions - the clients less is more approach produced an interesting kitchen. The vintage oak doors were recycled from the previous kitchen to lend some balance to the modern handleless furniture. A minimalist approach with white countertops and table was used throughout as a cool counterpart to the warm wood floor and cabinetry.

This goal of this studio condo remodel was to make the space feel like a high-end hotel suite. This condo is the client's city place - their home away from home and they wanted it to feel like a luxury escape. The walnut and white matte lacquer cabinets provide a crisp, yet warm and cozy feel in the space. The walnut bath vanity is a perfect contrast to the clean white walls and tile.

The front rooms were renovated to their former glory with replica plaster reinstated. A tasmanian Oak floor with a beautiful matt water based finish was selected by jess and its light and airy. this unifies the old and new parts. Colour was used playfully. Jess came up with a diverse colour scheme that somehow works really well. The wallpaper in the hall is warm and luxurious. ​

Contemporary Matt handleless kitchen with white quartz worktops and up stands. Glass splash backs and recessed under unit lighting, integrated appliances and wine cooler.
