For this kitchen, designed by Peter Bittner, the client had a very clear idea of what she wanted right from the start. She did her research. The mother of a fast growing, young family, she wanted something as efficient as it was beautiful – on the simple, yet elegant side. Her requests were straightforward: white and light grey Bilotta cabinetry in a transitional style so as not to compete with the detailing inside her 1950s Tudor-style home; a heated tile floor (By Rye Ridge Tile); stainless appliances; white subway tile backsplash by Walker Zanger (again to keep it clean and not compete with its surroundings); and seating at the island for snacks and homework. The “pop” suggested by Peter was done through the satin brass hardware and lighting fixtures. The real challenge with this space was to fit as much as possible into the existing footprint which was overall on the smaller side. The solution was eliminating a doorway (with a swinging door that opened into the kitchen) and stairs from the kitchen to the basement. By moving the stairs and doorway, the usable space increased considerably. The typical working triangle became the focus for one side of the kitchen and the island overhang and seating became available on the other side. To make up for the limited amount of wall cabinets Peter designed shallow pantry-style cabinets along the back wall. Quartz Countertops by Rom Stone Fabrication. A beautiful modernization to an older home full of character. The kitchen is adorned with two tone cabinets with white uppers and a medium gray for the lowers. This kitchen is a chef's dream with not only a cook top but a double wall oven and massive sub zero fridge. The butcher block island adds a natural element to the kitchen. A beverage fridge is added in to finish off this kitchen built for hosting.

This true mid-century modern home was ready to be revived. The home was built in 1959 and lost its character throughout the various remodels over the years. Our clients came to us trusting that with our help, they could love their home again. This design is full of clean lines, yet remains playful and organic. The first steps in the kitchen were removing the soffit above the previous cabinets and reworking the cabinet layout. They didn't have an island before and the hood was in the middle of the room. They gained so much storage in the same square footage of kitchen. We started by incorporating custom flat slab walnut cabinetry throughout the home. We lightened up the rooms with bright white countertops and gave the kitchen a 3-dimensional emerald green backsplash tile. In the hall bathroom, we chose a penny round floor tile, a terrazzo tile installed in a grid pattern from floor-to-ceiling behind the floating vanity. The hexagon mirror and asymmetrical pendant light are unforgettable. We finished it with a frameless glass panel in the shower and crisp, white tile. In the master bath, we chose a wall-mounted faucet, a full wall of glass tile which runs directly into the shower niche and a geometric floor tile. Our clients can't believe this is the same home and they feel so lucky to be able to enjoy it every day.

With the hustle and bustle of the farm, these clients needed a more functional kitchen space with durable materials, yet beautiful. Rustic multi-dimensional luxury vinyl plank flooring makes for easy maintenance in the space. Dark stained character maple cabinets brings in warmth and personality throughout the entire kitchen. A stunning granite counter top, hammered copper farmhouse sink, along with unique subway tiles brings this kitchen all together.

A complete re-imagining of an existing galley kitchen in a 1925 Spanish home. The design intent was to seamlessly meld modern interior design ideas within the existing framework of the home. In order to integrate the kitchen more to the dining area, a large portion of the wall dividing the kitchen and dining room was removed which became the location of the breakfast bar and liquor cabinet. The original arched divider between the kitchen and breakfast nook was relocated to hide the refrigerator, but retained to help integrate the old and the new. Custom open walnut shelving was used in the main part of the kitchen to further expand the experience of the galley kitchen and subway tile was used to, again, help bridge between the time periods. White Quartz countertops with waterfall edges with greyed wood cabinet faces round out the design.
