This tiny yet functional kitchen in question is in need of a revamp as it has become outdated and no longer meets the client's needs. The client is looking for a budget-friendly solution that will give the kitchen a fresh new look without breaking the bank. To achieve this, we will focus on updating the existing elements of the kitchen such as the cabinetry, flooring, and fixtures, while minimizing the need for major structural changes. By choosing affordable materials and finishes, we can create a modern and functional kitchen that fits within the client's budget. Our goal is to deliver a beautiful and practical kitchen that the client can enjoy for years to come, without overspending.

Creating this light, open inviting kitchen required a complete overhaul of the dark and enclosed feeling original space. we removed walls, bulkheads, added new walls to achieve an open area which nonetheless has a large walk-in pantry behind the oven/fridge. Beth likes Bali style interiors which we took as a cue for the colour/material/ finish choices. Solid tasmanian timber island bench top and floating shelving, sealed in Kunos from Livos gives a warm honey stain finish which is completely plant based. Chalk finish boards coupled with absolute matt cabinetry complements well. We also organised new floors where required (note the colour difference) which since has been all sanded back and "invisible" finished. to keep the vista unencumbered we also installed a recessed cassette range hood

The kitchen cabinets are a subtle two-tone color scheme that brings out the veining in the quartz. The upper cabinets are Benjamin Moore Simply White and lowers are Sherwin Williams Subtle Beige. The Bosch pullout range hood is very subtle, about an inch and a half of stainless steel shows over the GE induction range. In an upgrade to typical subway tile, Fireclay Tile picket tiles are done in a braid pattern.

This client's kitchen was a bit challenging in that the space was SO big we wanted to fill the space in a thoughtful way without adding cabinets to just fill the space. I am glad that they liked my plan to make the hood navy to break up all of that cherry, in the end the space is warm and inviting and so much more functional than the original kitchen.

This marvelous kitchen was a true challenge for space planning. The house was built in 1927. The original kitchen held the laundry, stove, a small icebox and an even smaller pantry. I created a comfortable peninsula for mingling while food is prepared. The William and Morris wallpaper on the ceiling was added to tie into the original wallpaper which is in the Butler's pantry next to the kitchen. Hand made tiles are used on the backsplash. A Spanish accent tile is used on the front of the peninsula. The Deckton countertop is more contemporary, being a lot thinner, and absolutely indestructible. The edge profile was intentionally thought out. I wanted it to look like the profile of a carved lion on an antique furniture piece. The beams were added to the ceiling and were also custom-created. I had the builder, Finish Point Cabinetry, channel the wood in the beam so that we could place LED lighting within them.
