This kitchen combines sleek design and optimum functionality to create a stylish, practical space. The focal point is the black cabinetry, with a delicate gold detailed trim. This striking combination exudes sophistication, with wooden accents complementing the dark cabinets and bringing warmth into the kitchen. One of the standout features of this design is the pristine white quartz worktop. Its clean and minimalist appearance enhances the aesthetic and provides a durable and easy-to-maintain surface for cooking. We have incorporated open shelving into the design, which enables our clients to showcase their favourite kitchenware and add a personal touch to the space. Smart storage solutions are absolutely key. With carefully designed cabinets and drawers, our clients will find ample space to organise their kitchen essentials efficiently, keeping everything within easy reach. We have integrated a Neff double oven, with its sleek, modern design complementing the aesthetic of the kitchen. The gold detailing is carried throughout the kitchen. From the elegant tap to the stylish plugs and accessories, these golden accents elevate the design and create a cohesive look. To complete the culinary experience, we have included a Bora hob, known for its innovative design and exceptional functionality. This knock down and rebuild had a house that faced the wrong way on a well established flat and sunny section. The new two-storey home is sited towards the rear of the section, so the living and outdoor areas face north. The brief was to create a clean-lined, contemporary family home that would accommodate three teenagers and their sociable parents and have “light, light, light” – big windows to capture the sun and to bring the sense of suburban greenery indoors. The lower level is clad in dark-stained vertically run cedar, wrapping over the north facing living areas, the garage and a blade wall that hides the living room from the driveway. The upper level is clad in crisp white plaster, and is staggered and pushed towards the rear of the site. A cantilevered section slices through one corner to hang above the entrance, sheltering it from the elements. Inside, there are four bedrooms, three bathrooms and two living rooms – allowing space for separation. Interior features include: a bold concrete stairwell with a screen of matai boards (rescued from the previous home), a sophisticated kitchen – complete with fingerprint-proof black cabinetry with bevelled handles, Calacatta Supreme Stone bench tops and a scullery with a coffee/bar area – and an ensuite with floor-to-ceiling Carrara marble-look tiles and concrete floor.

The kitchen island’s caramel leather and wood accents add warmth to this modern kitchen’s sleek appliances and solid slab quartz backsplash. The expanded island also made way for another bank of drawers and three large, hidden cabinets for small appliances and excess pantry items.

Originally a church and community centre, this Northside residence has been lovingly renovated by an enthusiastic young couple into a unique family home. The design brief for this kitchen design was to create a larger than life industrial style kitchen that would not look lost in the enormous 8.3meter wide “assembly hall” area of this unassuming 1950’s suburban home. The inclusion of a large island that was proportionate to the space was a must have for the family. The collation of different materials, textures and design features in this kitchen blend to create a functional, family-friendly, industrial style kitchen design that feels warm and inviting and entirely at home in its surroundings. The clients desire for dark charcoal colour cabinetry is softened with the use of the ‘Bluegrass’ colour cabinets under the rough finish solid wood island bench. The sleek black handles on the island contrast the Bluegrass cabinet colour while tying the island in with the handless charcoal colour cabinets on the back wall. With limited above bench wall space, the majority of storage is accommodated in 50-65kg capacity soft closing drawers under deep benchtops maximising the storage potential of the area. The 1meter wide appliance cabinet has ample storage for small appliances in tall deep drawers under bench height while a pair of pocket doors above bench level open to reveal bench space for a toaster and coffee machine with a microwave space and shelving above. This kitchen design earned our designer Anne Ellard, a spot in the final of KBDI’s 2017 Designer Awards. Award winners will be announced at a Gala event in Adelaide later this year. Now in its ninth year, the KBDi Designer Awards is a well-established and highly regarded national event on the Australian design calendar. The program recognises the professionalism and talent of Australian kitchen and bathroom designers.
