This 3,569-square foot, 3-story new build was part of Dallas's Green Build Program. This minimalist rocker pad boasts beautiful energy efficiency, painted brick, wood beams and serves as the perfect backdrop to Dallas' favorite landmarks near popular attractions, like White Rock Lake and Deep Ellum; a melting pot of art, music, and nature. Walk into this home and you're greeted with industrial accents and minimal Mid-Century Modern flair. Expansive windows flood the open-floor plan living room/dining area in light. The homeowner wanted a pristine space that reflects his love of alternative rock bands. To bring this into his new digs, all the walls were painted white and we added pops of bold colors through custom-framed band posters, paired with velvet accents, vintage-inspired patterns, and jute fabrics. A modern take on hippie style with masculine appeal. A gleaming example of how eclectic-chic living can have a place in your modern abode, showcased by nature, music memorabilia and bluesy hues. The bedroom is a masterpiece of contrast. The dark hued walls contrast with the room's luxurious velvet cognac bed. Fluted mid-century furniture is found alongside metal and wood accents with greenery, which help to create an opulent, welcoming atmosphere for this home. “When people come to my home, the first thing they say is that it looks like a magazine! A rustic, brick-white-blue take on the farmhouse kitchen. Custom-cut brick backsplash, trendy blue island with a beautiful Cambria quartz countertop, and shaker cabinets combine with the dark hardwood floor and exposed beam to form a cozy and inviting ensemble.

Mutual Materials stonework in Loon Lake surrounds the 36" gas Thermador range and Thermador hood insert in the kitchen. Wood cabinets are knotty alder with shaker doors with a slight eased edge, stained in "Old Manor Pine" and completed with Amerock hardware in stain nickel from their Inspirations Collection. Pull out spice cabinets on either side of the range make for easy access while cooking. Countertops and 4" backsplash are "White Splendor" granite. Backsplash behind the range is 12x24" Bedrosians tiles in Chateau Tobacco, installed in a herringbone design. Walls and ceilings are painted in Sherwin Williams "Kilim Beige", while exposed wood beams are finished with "Old Dragon's Breath" wood stain.

The "Dream of the '90s" was alive in this industrial loft condo before Neil Kelly Portland Design Consultant Erika Altenhofen got her hands on it. The 1910 brick and timber building was converted to condominiums in 1996. No new roof penetrations could be made, so we were tasked with creating a new kitchen in the existing footprint. Erika's design and material selections embrace and enhance the historic architecture, bringing in a warmth that is rare in industrial spaces like these. Among her favorite elements are the beautiful black soapstone counter tops, the RH medieval chandelier, concrete apron-front sink, and Pratt & Larson tile backsplash

This kitchen was crafted with a historical feel, like the homeowner built onto an existing property. The barn beams, reclaimed wide plank wood floors and custom, hand-crafted cabinetry and hand forged lighting appeals to the senses of old while the professional appliances allow the homeowner to function in the present!

Two islands work well in this rustic kitchen designed with knotty alder cabinets by Studio 76 Home. This kitchen functions well with stained hardwood flooring and granite surfaces; and the slate backsplash adds texture to the space. EKB Home designed and built this beautiful kitchen for our client building their new Stonemill home. The combination of black with white cabinets was repeated with the quartz tops, while adding just a touch of stained wood for warmth. Shaker doors were paired with black slab doors to bring a touch of contemporary into the transitional design.

Character and charm are abundant in this main floor remodel. The home edged toward a traditional style going in and we chose to honor this feel and carry it throughout while updating the space. From a space-planning perspective, the first volley was to remove the wall between the kitchen and dining room and let the light shine in. And shine in it does! The numerous windows stayed in place and now do their job allowing light to flow from room to room. Those very windows are trimmed in natural white oak and paired with arched wood-cased openings to add warmth to the scene. Wood beams between the kitchen and the family room and new stone on the fireplace add a nuanced rustic touch while keeping with the overall feel of the home. These organic elements beautifully offset the crisp whites and blues found everywhere you look. A patterned tile offers visual interest in the backsplash and travels from the counters to the ceiling bringing the eye with it. Orb-like woven pendant lights lend texture and interest to the marble topped island and brushed gold accent task lighting hangs above the apron sink. When a traditional style is held in high regard, and implemented well, it is nothing short of priceless.

Notice the right side transformation (see before photos at the end), as well as, the left side upper cabinets change out. By eliminating the desk, USI was able to accommodate a larger, built-in refrigerator, a steam, oven wall combo, a rollout tower to house the computer/TV and small electrics, as well as, create a hidden compartment for a step-stool.
