Central storage unit that comprises of a bespoke pull-out larder system and hoses the integrated fridge/freezer and further storage behind the top hung sliding door.

The island in this space is fitted with three stools which make this kitchen space an additional dining area for the homeowners. The all white countertop is a traditional look for this mid century kitchen design.

We added a 10 foot addition to their home, so they could have a large gourmet kitchen. We also did custom builtins in the living room and mudroom room. Custom inset cabinets from Laurier with a white perimeter and Sherwin Williams Evergreen Fog cabinets. Custom shiplap ceiling. And a custom walk-in pantry

Woodsy kitchen for guest house. This project was a Guest House for a long time Battle Associates Client. Smaller, smaller, smaller the owners kept saying about the guest cottage right on the water's edge. The result was an intimate, almost diminutive, two bedroom cottage for extended family visitors. This project questions the need for excessive space and challenges occupants to be efficient. Two shipping containers saddlebag a taller common space that connects local rock outcroppings to the expansive mountain ridge views. The containers house sleeping and work functions while the center space provides entry, dining, living and a loft above. The loft deck invites easy camping as the platform bed rolls between interior and exterior. The project is planned to be off-the-grid using solar orientation, passive cooling, green roofs, pellet stove heating and photovoltaics to create electricity.

There’s nothing as wonderful as walking into a mid-century gem with clients who love the character of their new home. Our goal for this project was to incorporate the mid-century bones of this home into a new design that would better meet the contemporary needs of our clients. We started by taking down the walls that had separated this kitchen from the rest of the home and creating a welcoming space that blended seamlessly with the new open concept. The new kitchen design was a win for our clients with increased storage, more work surfaces, and a peninsula with plenty of seating. We utilized wood finishes through out this space with light wood flooring, medium-tones on the cabinetry, and darker wood accents throughout giving us a beautiful balance and a calm backdrop. This home had beautiful horizontal lines that we wanted to accentuate, so we selected a dark wood finish for the central beam and tied it in with the dark finish on the wood fireplace mantel and the stair handrail to emphasize the horizontal features. But we never miss an opportunity for a fun mid-century pop, and this home provided plenty of inspiration! The boomerang hardware on the cabinets and escher backsplash tiles give us great geometric elements to break up the clean lines of the rest of the space. One of our favorite features of this home was the original plaster ceilings with the custom hand troweled texture. We knew from the beginning that this was an element we wanted to maintain and accentuate, so when we opened up the kitchen and added recessed lighting we reached out to a local plaster artisan to carry the texture throughout the space, and we couldn’t be happier with the results. This design brings together the mid-century aesthetics of clean lines and fun patterns with the modern-day functionality our clients were looking for in their new kitchen.

Ditching the hectic city life in favour of a more relaxed pace in the country, empty nesters Chris and Veronica decided to uproot their life in Sydney and move to their holiday home, nestled in the lush rolling hinterland of Bangalow, Byron Bay. Forming part of a larger extension and renovation, the client’s desire for their new kitchen was to create a visual centrepiece for the home that made an impactful statement whilst still remaining welcoming, relaxed and family friendly. As avid entertainers, it was a priority that the kitchen had a semi-commercial feel, was well equipped with high-grade appliances, durable surfaces and designated work zones to facilitate catering for large parties and events. Both partners have travelled extensively to far corners of the world collecting beautiful things, there was a natural desire for the space to reflect their global style and layer a mix of sentimental and bohemian inspired pieces from all over the world.
