The corner site, at the junction of St. Matthews Avenue and Chamberlain Way and delimited by a garden with mature trees, is located in a tranquil and leafy area of Surbiton in Surrey. Located in the north-east cusp of the site, the large two-storey Victorian suburban villa is a large family home combined with business premises, whereby part of the Ground Floor is used as Nursery. The property has been extended by FPA to improve the internal layout and provide additional floor space for a dedicated kitchen and a large Living Room with multifunctional quality. FPA has developed a proposal for a side extension to replace a derelict garage, conceived as a subordinate addition to the host property. It is made up of two separate volumes facing Chamberlain Way: the smaller one accommodates the kitchen and the primary one the large Living Room. The two volumes - rectangular in plan and both with a mono pitch roof - are set back from one another and are rotated so that their roofs slope in opposite directions, allowing the primary space to have the highest ceiling facing the outside. The architectural language adopted draws inspiration from Froebel’s gifts and wood blocs. A would-be architect who pursued education as a profession instead, Friedrich Froebel believed that playing with blocks gives fundamental expression to a child’s soul, with blocks symbolizing the actual building blocks of the universe. Although predominantly screened by existing boundary treatments and mature vegetation, the new brick building initiates a dialogue with the buildings at the opposite end of St. Matthews Avenue that employ similar materials and roof design. This tiny kitchen sits in the corner of this top floor apartment. A tight angle made it difficult to maximise storage - especially with the hot water service in the corner under the bench. The blue/green glass splashback extends up behind the narrow canopy and makes a splash of colour in an otherwise neutral colour scheme. Supplemented by a small mobile chopping block benchtop space is reasonable given the space. A small pantry to the left supplements the storage shown.

Vista verso la cucina e la zona notte. Questa foto rende bene l'organizzazione complessiva degli spazi all'interno del monolocale. La 'scatola' che contiene la zona notte ricopre anche la funzione di libreria e di mobile contenitore. I materiali utilizzati rendono questo piccolo piccolo ambiente ricco e confortevole. Il calore del legno è bilanciato dagli inserti di colore verde e dalle pannellature bianche. Lo spazio nel suo insieme è estremamente funzionale e moderno.

L’objectif premier pour cet espace de travail est d’optimiser au maximum chaque mètre carré et créer un univers à l’image de notre cliente. Véritable espace de vie celui-ci accueille de multiples fonctions : un espace travail, une cuisine, des alcoves pour se détendre, une bibliothèque de rangement et décoration notamment. Dans l’entrée, le mur miroir agrandit l’espace et accentue la luminosité ambiante. Coté bureaux, l’intégralité du mur devient un espace de rangement. La bibliothèque que nous avons dessinée sur-mesure permet de gagner de la place et vient s’adapter à l’espace disponible en proposant des rangements dissimulés, une penderie et une zone d’étagères ouverte pour la touche décorative. Afin de délimiter l’espace, le choix d’une cloison claustra est une solution simple et efficace pour souligner la superficie disponible tout en laissant passer la lumière naturelle. Elle permet une douce transition entre l’entrée, les bureaux et la cuisine. Associer la couleur « verte » à un matériau naturel comme le bois crée une ambiance 100% relaxante et agréable. Les détails géométriques et abstraits, que l’on retrouve au sol mais également sur les tableaux apportent à l’intérieur une note très chic. Ce motif s’associe parfaitement au mobilier et permet de créer un relief dans la pièce. L’utilisation de matières naturelles est privilégiée et donne du caractère à la décoration. Le raphia que l’on retrouve dans les suspensions ou le rotin pour les chaises dégage une atmosphère authentique, chaleureuse et détendue.

For a young family looking to design and furnish their Brooklyn townhome, we created a floorplan that defined various zones within the long, thin floorplate common in townhouses. We delineated the zones into private and more public, or family spaces.

Nos clients, une famille avec 3 enfants, ont fait l'achat d'un bien de 124 m² dans l'Ouest Parisien. Ils souhaitaient adapter à leur goût leur nouvel appartement. Pour cela, ils ont fait appel à @advstudio_ai⁠⁠ et notre agence. ⁠ ⁠ L'objectif était de créer un intérieur au look urbain, dynamique, coloré. Chaque pièce possède sa palette de couleurs. Ainsi dans le couloir, on est accueilli par une entrée bleue Yves Klein et des étagères déstructurées sur mesure. Les chambres sont tantôt bleu doux ou intense ou encore vert d'eau. La SDB, elle, arbore un côté plus minimaliste avec sa palette de gris, noirs et blancs. ⁠ ⁠ La pièce de vie, espace majeur du projet, possède plusieurs facettes. Elle est à la fois une cuisine, une salle TV, un petit salon ou encore une salle à manger. Conformément au fil rouge directeur du projet, chaque coin possède sa propre identité mais se marie à merveille avec l'ensemble. ⁠ Ce projet a bénéficié de quelques ajustements sur mesure : le mur de brique et le hamac qui donnent un côté urbain atypique au coin TV ; les bureaux, la bibliothèque et la mezzanine qui ont permis de créer des rangements élégants, adaptés à l'espace.
