Bay Area Custom Cabinetry: wine bar sideboard in family room connects to galley kitchen. This custom cabinetry built-in has two wind refrigerators installed side-by-side, one having a hinged door on the right side and the other on the left. The countertop is made of seafoam green granite and the backsplash is natural slate. These custom cabinets were made in our own award-winning artisanal cabinet studio. A full inside-out renovation of our commercial space, featuring our Showroom and Conference Room. The 3,500-square-foot Andrea Schumacher storefront in the Art District on Santa Fe is in a 1924 building. It houses the light-filled, mural-lined Showroom on the main floor and a designers office and library upstairs. Photos By: Amy Birrer The home featured was built in 1956 in the height of the atomic age and we wanted to bring it back to its roots. The idea here is to pay homage to the 1950s without repeating them verbatim. In lieu of an aquamarine refrigerator, we used a large white AGA with modern lines and encased it in an aquamarine cabinet. We picked up the same color on the shelving on either side of the stainless Viking range. The cabinets are a framed inset construction with slab drawers and doors. The flat doors and drawers are in keeping with minimal embellishment, but using a framed inset cabinet adds interest to the space and breaks up the conformity.

Michael K. Wilkinson The kitchen was small, outdated, and dark. To provide a better connection to the adjacent dining room, we enlarged the opening between the kitchen and dining room and installed a peninsula countertop that has seating on one side. This is an apartment building with concrete ceilings, so we had to lower the kitchen ceiling 10 inches in order to install recessed lights. The apartment has soaring 9-foot 3-inch ceiling heights, so the space does not feel small. The kitchen also has a new combination paddle fan/light. The drum shape is echoed in the pendant lights and the dining room fixture. All of the lights are on dimmers, something we prefer because it allows our clients to create a range of moods. There is also lighting inside the four glass cabinet doors above the range. To meet code, we had to relocate the electrical panel inside kitchen to the dining room wall. The owner was able to cover it with art work. The owner selected cherry cabinets in a natural finish, topped with contrasting Piracema White granite. The backsplash throughout the kitchen is gray glass subway tile. Behind the stove, the designer added some interest by adding blue tiles, but rotating the 4-inch tiles at a 45-degree angle. Due to size of the kitchen, the owner opted for a narrow 18-inch dishwasher and a 24-inch counter-depth refrigerator. The stove, however, is a standard 30-inch with a microwave above. The new 2 ¼-inch rift and quarter white oak boards were stained and finished along with the existing floors in the apartment for a seamless look.

Kitchen designed by Tracy West, project installed by Robert Sykora, and photos by Elliot Quintin. Jack and Ellen of Red Lion, PA chose a flat panel contemporary door style. The bar hardware complements the cabinets and appliances perfectly. The smoked glass backsplash is a perfect fit. The red glass accent line gives the space an elegant pop of color. Jack and Ellen added their red accessories finalizing the Wow Factor! This space received a total make over including DeWils cabinetry, Alterna flooring and Interceramic backsplash. Cambria quartz countertops and a functional farm sink complete the look.

A Gilmans Kitchens and Baths - Design Build Project (REMMIES Award Winning Kitchen) The original kitchen lacked counter space and seating for the homeowners and their family and friends. It was important for the homeowners to utilize every inch of usable space for storage, function and entertaining, so many organizational inserts were used in the kitchen design. Bamboo cabinets, cork flooring and neolith countertops were used in the design. Storage Solutions include a spice pull-out, towel pull-out, pantry pull outs and lemans corner cabinets. Bifold lift up cabinets were also used for convenience. Special organizational inserts were used in the Pantry cabinets for maximum organization.
