A few tweaks to this already well built kitchen, refreshed the space and solidified the Arts & Craft theme carried throughout the space. A change to the pantry wall provided better and increased storage and countertop space and a new island created finely tuned symmetry to the layout. Combned with new cabinet hardware and modern chevron backsplash, the updated marble-look quartz countertops offer durability and a tailored sophisticated elegance.

Plenty of light in this kitchen remodel by Angie! Paired with the rich, transitional cabinets the MSI Cashmere Carrarra countertops, light natural stone backsplash and white walls make this kitchen remodel feel incredibly open and airy. Large stainless pulls blend well with the appliances and don't distract from the overall beauty of the space. The structural Douglas Fir post and ceiling beams set the tone along with the stain matched 2x6 pine tongue and groove ceiling –this also serves as the finished floor surface at the loft above. Dreaming a cozy feel at the kitchen/dining area a darker stain was used to visual provide a shorter ceiling height to a 9’ plate line. The knotty Alder floating shelves and wall cabinetry share their own natural finish with a chocolate glazing. The island cabinet was of painted maple with a chocolate glaze as well, this unit wanted to look like a piece of furniture that was brought into the ‘cabin’ rather than built-in, again with a value minded approach. The flooring is a pre-finished engineered ½” Oak flooring, and again with the darker shade we wanted to emotionally deliver the cozier feel for the space. Additionally, lighting is essential to a cook’s –and kitchen’s- performance. We needed there to be ample lighting but only wanted to draw attention to the pendants above the island and the dining chandelier. We opted to wash the back splash and the counter tops with hidden LED strips. We then elected to use track lighting over the cooking area with as small of heads as possible and in black to make them ‘go away’ or get lost in the sauce.

This was a Green Building project so wood materials has to be FSC Certified and NAUF. The amber bamboo used (which is horizontal grain run), is a sustainable wood. The The interiors are certified maple plywood. Low VOC clear water-based finish.

This three-story vacation home for a family of ski enthusiasts features 5 bedrooms and a six-bed bunk room, 5 1/2 bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, great room, 2 wet bars, great room, exercise room, basement game room, office, mud room, ski work room, decks, stone patio with sunken hot tub, garage, and elevator. The home sits into an extremely steep, half-acre lot that shares a property line with a ski resort and allows for ski-in, ski-out access to the mountain’s 61 trails. This unique location and challenging terrain informed the home’s siting, footprint, program, design, interior design, finishes, and custom made furniture.
